#with my maternal grandpa it’s complicated #he was an alcoholic with undiagnosed mental illness #once he was old and got dementia they gave him meds and he was a whole different person #so sweet and loving to my grandma and to us #so my end of life memories of him are lovely #my paternal grandpa was the sweetest man #he died when I was 16 and I am still so sad about that #he had Parkinson’s which made him kinda goofy in his final years #but he was always sweet and he always tried to pick me up #even when I was a teenager #polls
