R.I.P 2 MY YOUTH.

if the girl could blush it would have been her face to give away how nervous she was. instead it was her words as she scrunched up her nose & smiled up at the other. ‘ i-i guess —- you could say that’s, uh, what i’m doing. i mean, — if you’d be interested. ‘ as he took her own hand, kara thanked the earth that it took a lot more than nerves to get her to sweat. ‘ ———— really?? ‘

‘ i-it’s really sweet of you. i wish i had, uh, gotten you something. ‘ kara’s smile hadn’t left her face as she placed her hand on the male’s arm. she hesitated, considering whether or not it was okay to hug before decided it was. wrapping her arms around him, she was careful not to use her strength. ‘ we could — we could use the gift card together, uh, sometime? ‘

She hadn’t actually expected anything he said to hit home. But in one sentence, he’d made more sense than fifteen minutes of the bullshit inside. It was hard to look him in the eye when he said I wanted to be. She stared back at the church, as if she could see down into the basement where the stupid meeting was still happening. “It’s better being alone,” she muttered, eyes flicking back to his for a minute. “No one gets under a person’s skin like their parents,” she said slowly. She eyed him up and down, processing his reply. “So they guilted you into sobriety? Sounds like shit.” 

   cir-el turned and looked over at the man before giving him a soft smile when he gently placed his jacket over her. “you really don’t have to, i don’t want you to get sick.” she said softly. “to a hotel, i’m not fussy about which one.”

‘ i — you didn’t have to — uh … ‘ she stumbles over her words as she smiles up at the male. she’s surprised, to say the least, & her mind begins to move faster than she can form the words. ‘ i, uh, i didn’t get you anything, ‘ she mumbles as she accepts the gifts. part of her feels bad but it’s not like she ever expected anyone would get her anything.

Jessica turned around – hadn’t even realized someone else was there. She frowned at him, but a part of her liked the way he cut straight to the point. “Then consider it a genuine question,” she called, though her tone was still edged with cynicism. “How did listening to everyone else’s shitty lives keep you breathing?” 

          “shit” cir-el mumbled as she wandered around in the rain, thankfully it was only a light shower but it didn’t change the fact that she was now wet and very lost. “should have got a map or something.”

“AA is a bunch of bullshit,” Jessica declared, marching out of the building. She had sat through about fifteen minutes before she couldn’t take it anymore. “How the hell is listening to a bunch of other people bitching about their lives supposed to make me want to drink less?”  

    “ everyone in this city is so bossy.  i really don’t take orders well. ”

“My editor wants me to use the new found superhero registration act to my advantage and get an exclusive on the people who had decided to register. And I promptly said no. But he took it as, sleep on it. I hate this stupid act!”

kara listens to everything the three of them say, letting it all soak in. she’s not sure she totally understands the dynamic. partially confused why she’s there & partially intrigued, she questions, ‘ so ——– you’re all single & still friends? i mean bad luck in dating; i get that, been there tons of times. but i’ve never heard of people really being friends after breaking up. i thought that was something that only happened in those comedy television shows. it’s not —– awkward? ‘

        peter’s got to admit, this has to be a lot for kara to take in. there’s years of history between the three of them, so much to the point that they just got USED to the odd dynamic. ‘ there’s some things you just don’t want to give up, yanno ? ’ and he’s not so sure that’s how harry and mj feel, but that’s definitely how he feels. ‘ besides, ’ he says, hands in his pocket as he comes across his building. ‘ we were friends before. ’

     “ yeah, exactly!! we’ve always been together, since like tenth grade. ” mary jane chirps in with peter, agreeing full heartedly with what he’d said. for the first few weeks peter and her had started speaking again, it was a little weird given their circumstances were different but they were fine now and so were her and harry. “ at the beginning it was kinda weird, but isn’t it always?? the three of us have been through a lot and —-… it’s like they’re the only two people in the world that knew what went on with us. no matter what i don’t think we could give up that, you know?? we went through it together. so no matter what i’m stuck with two dinguses. anyway, you like pizza?? ”

“Did you learn a power where you can duplicate yourself? Because I’m seeing two of you and it’s really cool.”

       “ ehm – if you see BRIGHT RED hair, a pair of neon green eyes, and is wearing less of the same thing as me, give me a warning, will you ?? i promise to REWARD you. ”

with all the not so subtle placements of hints to who she is & the confusion as to what the dynamic really was between these three, kara feels like she may just fly away at any moment. she’s not really given the chance to as she’s pulled away with the other girl. kara looks back at the other two before she directs her attention towards mj, ‘ wait so —- you dated both of them? or you’re not dating peter? or ———– i-i’m very lost. ‘

      peter considers using that line nick jonas penned – the one about feeling attacked when just wanting a good time – but decides against it. instead he shrugs: ‘ — you got me there. ’ he settles on finally, though he flicks at harry’s head. ‘ i think we’re confusing kara. i say we fill her in, wouldn’t want to lose out on a night out with us. we’ll start with high school ? me and the camera, i’m sure i’ve got photos of us all being a mess somewhere. ’

     a teasing smile is on her lips as she whips around to come back at her former boyfriend. “ yeah i wouldn’t say all that, harold. ” a heavy sigh falls from mary jane’s lips as she figures where to start the story off. “ okay so, we know each other from high school, college - and so forth. i had this real DOUCHE boyfriend and these two goons had this weird duo crush on me. peter was the weird kid with a camera and he had a girlfriend at the time, harry was available and well, nice - so we went on a few dates. blah, blah you know how it goes i was with harry for about a year or so and things got —- rough, so, we fell out and peter and i got together. we were together through college and things again got —– rough. so, now we’re speaking on good terms and we’re both SINGLE. ”
