It's so hard to forget pain, but it's even harder to remember sweetness. We have no scar to show for happiness. We learn so little from peace.

And even though she was sad for a long time she was so so beautiful. Don’t get me wrong, her sadness wasn’t beautiful. It hurt. It hurt looking at her knowing her heart was in pain and there was nothing I could do but be there for her. Sometimes that didn’t seem enough, not for her but for me. She was beautiful. God was she fucking beautiful. What was beautiful was the bravery she wore to get out of bed each day. What was beautiful was the way she would walk into a room and it felt like everyone’s heart stopped. What was beautiful about her was her laugh. God it was so nice to hear her laugh. She had the kind of laugh that would make your heart go, “oh, so that’s where you’ve been all my life.” She was so fucking beautiful. But what was even more beautiful was her understanding of life and her constant need to give and love even if no one returned it. What was beautiful was the way she stilled loved even though the world had hurt her deeply. What was even more beautiful was no matter how sad she was she would make sure that you were okay even if she was the one breaking. I think that’s what made her beautiful. The fact that she turned her pain into love for others.
