Fork and Needle

My latest fungus (yes, Lichen is actually a fungus and not a plant!), the crochet foliose lichen! All foliose lichens are somewhat leaflike in appearance; composed of several connecting lobes. They tend to be loosely attached to their substrate (often tree bark) by small, root like structures called rhizines. Lichens are especially helpful in determining the health of the environment. There is a direct correlation between the number and abundance of lichen species and how much pollution is in the air.

My take on the Lilac Breasted Roller. They’re such pretty birds. I normally stitch the whole bird but I kind of like the unfinished look on this one.
