I have some bias because this is a coworker and fellow educator!

I think this is a wonderful introducton catered for anyone who has a desire to get in touch with the native ecosystem of our childhood. Cindy does a wonderful job depicting the homey feel of a prairie while also providing specific illustrations, streamlined identification for specific plants and forbes, alongside a whimsical amount of stories and personal reflections.

What an excellent fucking story. The rule of cool must have been born with this manga, holy shit.

Kenshiro is such a wonderful role model--he suffers and struggles, but holds confidence in his comrades, cherishes the lives he protects, and beholds honor and empathy when its needed most. Yuria and Rin are so steadfast and compassionate, I adore them.

It's honestly an insane experience getting to discover some of the most classic manga memes within theses panels; the onomatopoeia is incredible and I truly had no idea there were that many ways a man could die.

I mean, what can I say that hasn't already been said? It's glorious, it's revolting, it breaks m heart yet fills me with courage. I've never been so sick to my stomach then when readign this--I'd bring the ndelux hardcover to the gym to read on the treadmill. The artwork is ridiculous in its delicacy and brutality.

I of course love Guts, but not in way most men do. He is so vulnerable and yet wants to be a better person when it comes to his companions. He's so willing to trust the new troupe and it's fantastic evolution on his behalf. Rickert is the best character outside of Judeo, and I'll always love Luca and Erika.

My only complaint is I missed Casa the whole damn time--we only get her back in the last chunk of the most recent volume and I will accept no other finale then her cleaving Griffith in two.

Here's some of the panels that just rocked me to my core. I will be patiently waiting for Casca to finally have her revenge.

Gosh, this was worth every chapter. I'm so serious, all 500 of them. I have been completely stretched to my thinnest with life and there was no better way to wind down than to pick up the next volume from my library.

Komi, Rumi, Tadano, all these kids are sweet, curious, and connective--it was a small window into the few most of high school where everone genuinly cared about one another thant often is clouded by our memories of the bad times and experiences. Komi, though not labelled and an of course falling short to some stereotypes, really opened my eyes to a lens of how in high school you can include the autistic kid or the nervous kid.

The effort her friends, especially Tadano, put into making her feel considered inspires so many other teens in this stories to do the same. And to have this pan over the entirety of her high school experience makes this story an excellent slow burn--sometimes the most exiting thing you do on a rainy Thursday is play desktop games. It was very cool seeing all the possible trips and festivities that many kids won't get to experience because of COVID, too.

So I'm on this very small journey to reconnect with my other half of culture and ancestry--I am Irish, though didn't grow up celebrating that ancestry, but now as an adult I am trying to.

I loved Secret of the Kells, so I hunted down at my library a copy that had that (for a rewatch), along with Song of the Sea and Wolfwalkers.

I knew of selkies through myths communities, so it was very endearing to see them in their original world. I am obsessed with the color palettes and character designs--I'm actually tearing up just thinking about it. There are lullabies in here that I wish I grew up with. I think if you're someone who is grieving, Song of The Sea, will warm your heart.

Regarding Wolfwalkers, it is my favorite of the trilogy. I knew it would break my heart, especially since I have worked in wolf conservation before, which is a devastating experience. The violence of imperialism our English characters bring back upon the Irish community is painful to watch--I adore Robyn and Mebh and how similar they are at heart. I sobbed through most of this movie; the colors are like a warm hug and soundtrack and score bring me to tears.
