How could she not acknowledge him? It was Yuezi’s job to take into account every soldier of Wu, and fortunately, her eidetic imagery helped her recognise every face and every name - even Han Dang’s. Besides, he was an important figure to her; she absolutely adored him.
“As a matter of fact, yes, I would like your assistance.” Yuezi confirmed. “Father was supposed to go to the market with me to get ingredients for today’s lunch, but something came up and he couldn’t accompany me. I was wondering if you had the time to spare to aid me in my quest?” What she left out was the part about feeling lonely and grieving over her now deceased love, thus, needing a companion and distraction.
“I was thinking about making meat saute for lunch. I have a feeling the army is getting bored of meat buns, and I’d like to whip up something new. What would you like for lunch, Master Han Dang?”
记得我 ;; “Of course, my lady.” His lips curled upward as he gave a respectful and enthusiastic nod. Despite all of his efforts, he blended into the background for most; and it wasn’t that he was desperate to be remembered either. He simply wished to have his deeds and hard work recognized. At the end of the day, the foundations of Wu fell upon his shoulders too, and if he was forgotten, would the very thing they stood for be forgotten too? What about Sun Jian, or Sun Ce? What about the lives of every soldier, every innocent, every supporter of Eastern Wu’s forces? It was these very people that Han Dang stood for, because it was those who gave him purpose from wandering aimlessly as a youxia.
“I... Am not so certain.” He chuckled a bit awkwardly, at a bit of a loss for words. “Though if you’re offering, I’m certain that anything your hands can make is a gift. Your father is truly fortunate to have someone as talented and caring as you for a daughter.”
