âClearly, the ministry was wrong when they took you from us. She doesnât have a firm hand and canât afford tutors,"said Bellatrix. She kept her focus on Kate. "But her pathethic influence can only account for so much. You have choices and power of your own. And if what she says is trueâŚYou shame yourself Kate.Youâre worth more than letting unworthy eyes gaze upon you.â Bellatrixâs own gaze snapped back to Morrigan. âWhat friend?â Sheâd had very few of those, but the description of âimmortalâ only fit thr dearest of them. Kat,alive? If it was true, Katerina better have an excellent explanation for abandoning her and Kate. âShe can scream as much as she wants when you disrespect yourself and your families. All of them at once.â Bellatrix shook her head. âAnd have you considered itâs an impostor? Someone taking advantage of your weakenesses for their own gain? How brainless have you become in my absence?â
Of course Morrigan took offense to the fact that Bellatrix had insinuated that the Lawsons couldnât give Kate a decent education.  She unfolded her arms and shifted her weight from one foot to the other.  She still maintained her distance from Bellatrix, although considering they were on Lestrange territory, she wasnât exactly safe. âExcuse me, arenât you the one with the long list of a criminal record here?  Youâre not even supposed to be alive!â It was one of the many points of contention that these custodial figures had with each other.  At least Morriganâs distaste of Bellatrix Lestrange wasnât as extreme as those whose lives Bellatrix had actually affected. Still, Death Eater figures coming back from the dead wasnât exactly reassuringâŚbut that was another story for another time.
Morrigan sighed. Â âYes, from what Iâve observed, Katerina is alive. Or someone may be glamouring as her. Â Itâs still under investigation. Â Thatâs the other reason Iâm here: you know her best, and the Ministry doesnât have time to spare resources for a case like this.â
The young blonde glared at her two guardians. Â âI think I would know my own mother, thank you very much.â Â She didnât, of course, but this was her version of teenage rebellion. âAnd Iâm over eighteen! Â You donât need to be so overprotectiveâI can legally do what I want!â
âOh yeah, like taking your clothes off in public is such a great decision,â Morrigan retorted back. Â âYou slept with your professor because he enticed you to do some things for a better grade. Â And then you dropped out of school. Â How is that a good thing?â
