â just unfortunate [ open ]
It seemed she was still a bit dazed and started from the attack and the sudden moving away from the flock. At her question, Hakaze introduced herself, her voice carrying its usual tone of grandeur like her name was supposed to mean something to someone who had no idea who she was, âMy name is Kusaribe Hakaze. I suppose just Hakaze is fine, though. And you are?â
The princess watched the girl flip through a notebook as if she were searching for an answer to Hakazeâs question, which made her tilt her head a bit. What, was she following a script or something? She claimed to be innocent, but it didnât sound like she even believed herself. âAre you sure?â she asked, ending in a smile. It was nothing to make a big case over by bringing in suspicions of guilt or innocence, Hakaze just found the girlâs actions a little amusing.
She turned slightly to look back over her shoulder, and at the end of the street, she could see the flock of pigeons still congregating in the middle of the road where theyâd left them. The birds were tilting and bobbing their heads with cooing chatter, as if they were just as confused that their target had vanished. âTheyâre probably just a bunch of ill-tempered birds, Iâd say. Maybe the sudden arrival of everyone in this city has them riled up for some reasonâ you know, like how animals get nervous when their homes are disturbed. In any case, is this your first day here? Do you need an escort?â
She introduces herself like a princess, Ryouko thinks at first. It's a very formal yet powerful introduction and, she'd admit, quite fitting for the woman alongside her. She wonders for a moment if she really is the royal type--what could her life be like now? Ryouko briefly considers writing the name down on the book, but she'd only just run into her. Someone like this, whether they were royalty or not, really had nothing to do with her.Â
That being said, Ryouko was still polite. She was a cute highschool girl, after all. So when asked for her name in return, her hands on reflex shut her notebook, flipping it over to the cover. Taking a quick glance, Ryouko reads the title before her and remembers, looking back up to Hakaze.
"Ah...It appears my name is Ryouko Otonashi..?" Says the red head, once again giving an answer binded with uncertainty.Â
By the time Hakaze references back to the birds, Ryouko has already forgotten. She looks unsure when the potential princess looks back to a flock birds. They looked like an unruly bunch, unlike the regular harm free pigeon you'd normally see. The other woman seemed to agree with her thoughts, as she began to speak about them in an almost alarming amount of detail, only confusing the red head more.Â
"Those birds..? Um...They really don't--" have anything to do with me, she wants to say but suddenly they aren't talking about birds anymore. "Escort me?" A stranger, escorting her? And to where? This kind of situation...didn't it seem a little suspicious?Â
