To complete our journey we went to go see "a walk in the woods" a movie about the appalachian trail. We have been quoting the trailer since we saw it in Virginia, months ago... Here's my review: A Walk in the Woods / This hour-long, buddy-drama features a dull man (Redford) walking around a TV set with a type-cast Nick Nolte as they get themselves into adventures like shopping at REI, not drinking alcohol, and avoiding female archetypes. The "100 mile wilderness" was one of the craziest sections of the trail for us. We were hit with a tropical storm last week and it rained for a few days straight. After it passed, all of the rivers swelled to dangerous levels and we had to ford through long sections of whitewater (up to waist deep). Some hikers left the trail, a few hikers were heli-evac'ed out and I might have saved another's life when she fell in the strong current of the "pleasant River".
