I missed you in a small way. tiny enough to fold up and put in my pocket, and carry that loneliness with me everywhere I went. I’d forget all about you, until my hand accidentally brushed against that slip of memory.

Hmm yes (x)
We wear cowboy outfits as Halloween costumes even though people legitimately wore those things 100 years ago. In 100 years kids might be trick or treating as “guy in v neck and khakis”
“My brother and I were both placed into foster homes at a young age. He was lucky—he went to a family called the Ripleys. I went through four different homes in three years, and each one was worse than the next. I’d get to see my brother every few months. Ms. Ripley would take us for lunch at McDonalds, and that’s when she first noticed the scars all over my body. She immediately made arrangements for me to join their family. Back then the word ‘family’ didn’t mean much to me. But the Ripleys made me feel welcome in their home. Whenever I did something wrong, Ms. Ripley would sit me down and explain why it wasn’t OK. But then she’d say: ‘You’re not going anywhere. Because you belong to us now.’ Shortly after I joined the family, Mr. Ripley was diagnosed with cancer. And later that year he passed away. Ms. Ripley’s entire world fell apart. They’d been high school sweethearts. And now she was alone with two foster kids. Nobody would have blamed her for taking us back. But instead she took us to court and made it permanent. The three of us moved into a single wide trailer in Mississippi, and that’s where she raised us. She worked whatever odd jobs she could find. We never had much, but we went to movies. We had family game nights. She kept us busy with little league and Boy Scouts. She must have been super stressed, but that’s not at all what I remember. I just remember the affirmation that she gave me. It was always: ‘You’re smart.’ And ‘You’re handsome.’ And ‘You survived all that stuff because you’re strong.’ She cried when I joined the Marines, but she knew it was my best chance for a college education. And eventually I graduated from law school. Last year I had a daughter of my own. And that really put me into an emotional tailspin. Because I realized how every little choice I make is going to affect her future. And then I started thinking about how different my life could have been. Because my early development had been the opposite of what a child’s should be. I should be broken, but I’m not. Because thirty years ago my Mom decided to keep me. And somehow, despite all her sadness and heartbreak, she poured enough love into me so that I could heal.”

Love who you love while you have them. That’s all you can do. Let them go when you must. If you know how to love, you’ll never run out.

We Evangelicals are known for our obsession with virginity. Now don’t get me wrong–I affirm that it is good and God-honoring to remain sexually pure before marriage (and within marriage and after marriage). As a pastor I want to teach the people in my care the value of having their first sexual experiences with their spouse in the marriage bed and not with a prom date in the back of a car. I want my children to value sexual purity …
Reasons why Max from Stranger Things 2 is amazing
Breaks 80s gender stereotypes: she got the high score on Dig Dug even though the boys doubted that girls can be good at video games.
She calls out the boys for being creepy and acting like it’s a privilege to go trick-or-treating with them:
She respects Will’s sensitivity on the “Zombie Boy” situation so she doesn’t ask him about it even though she really wants to understand what happened.
She tells Billy (her abuser) off even though she’s terrified of him, also defies him by hanging out with Lucas when he demands that she doesn’t:
She doesn’t allow herself to be silently pushed to the sidelines:
She confronts people who have issues with her/who she believes are treating her unfairly and sasses those who are unnecessarily rude to her:
She apologizes for the times she thought she acted like a jerk because she doesn’t want to take her anger out on others like her step-brother does.
When she’s convinced that the Demogorgons are real she does whatever she can to help the rest of the party: fortifies the bus so they can capture Dart, fixes up the shed so they can question Will, drives to Hopper’s tunnel, risks her life to set fire to the Mind Flayer’s vines to give El and Hopper time to close the gate.
“I told you. Zoomer.”
Whenever Billy goes too far she takes it in her own hands to stop him:
¡¡¡!!!
We assume others show love the same way we do — and if they don’t, we worry it’s not there.

Naming a mountain range “The Rockies” is the equivalent of naming a cat “Kitty”

crying over boys is the worst kind of crying
Kiss her like the world is ending tomorrow and you want to commit the taste of her mouth to your soul’s memory.
