If it was only assassin mission episodes, then why would most people care to watch if the characters motives and world around them aren't developed. You can probably think of many examples of characters being cool or bad ass but having 0 development or personality, and many people don't like those characters.

Plus we have some shorts that are missions, and overall mission episodes (from what I've heard) don't gain as much viewership as other episodes. Not only that but the most hated episode, is a mission episode"

The problem is that she choose Adam, a character from the bible with a tragic and long history from that book. Besides, he isn't really a hypocrite when he's killing scumbags. Granted, there's his character assassination in S2 where he's turned into a woman abuser...

Blitzø is voiced by Brandon Rogers… I repeat BRANDON ROGERS voices in and helped write helluva boss! What kind of humor do you expect?! Do all the jokes hit? No. Can some seem a little too far? Sure. But sitting there acting like dark crass humor are somehow beneath you? Yeah no. I knew what kind of humor I was signing up for after the pilot episodes, if it’s not your type of humor don’t watch it. But don’t sit there and complain about the entire comedic direction of a show!"

The problem is that the series wants you to see him as a prick yet he has every reason to do what he does. Remember, he's killing cannibals, rapist, dictators and other scumbags. He's making sure they don't go to Heaven. Not to mention, Vivize is using THE Adam as the antagonist, a man who suffered because a bratty manchild wanted to screw over humanity. But of course, Vi wanted him to make him an annoying one dimensional asshole because we can't have gray morality.

"The most telling thing is that to make Adam secretly a hero, they have to warp another character (usually Lucifer or Charlie) into a monster. What’s funny is they could easily make Adam into a more nuanced character without twisting any of the others. Show the ramifications of Eden, show how it may have affected his psyche. Make him start as a character who didn’t understand that controlling others was wrong (because he didn’t have the knowledge of good and evil) and maybe changed his mind. Then grew a grudge and apathy when he was made to watch all of his children live and die. Make him feel misguided rage and guilt, make him regret.

Then when we see him in the show, he hides behind a mask of carefree confidence. It’s also not canon, but it’s more interesting than 'he’s actually a hero and was right all along.'"
