Hi, I'm back and here to talk about this pattern...
This is the image I'd see on Pinterest a lot lately based on my searches for purse/bag patterns
This diagram they show below the purse does not correlate to create the bag above. The eyelets are far too wide and doesn't even come close to having the same amount of stitches.
So I'll tell you very simply how to do the pattern for the purse in the image above:
First, create your ring how you see fit- be it magic ring or your second chain from hook.
You will begin with 12 double crochets into your ring. Your first chain counts as your 1st stitch. Double crochet 4 stitches, Chain 1- do this 3 times. You should have 12 double crochets and 3 chains that create a small space. Slip stitch into the first chain as if it were a double crochet.
If you're like me and like my rows to look orderly, I'll begin my rows with my double crochet chain, double crochet 1, chain 1, double crochet 4, chain 1, double crochet 4, chain 1, then double crochet 2 times. These two dc will line up with the first chain and 1 double crochet to make the first chain and 3 double crochet! Then you slip stitch into the chain to complete the row! This way your chain will fit snug in the middle of your row instead of sticking out awkwardly at the end.
Chain 2 and single crochet into the same loops your chain is in! Continue to double crochet into each dc below until you reach the little gap where your 1 chain is from the previous row. You will double crochet 2 times, chain 1, and 2 dc into this gap (2 dc, 1 ch, 2 dc). These are your increases and will create the rounded corners and tighten up the eyelets so they aren't very big.
Then dc into each set of dc loops until you reach the next 1 chain gap and repeat the increase of 4 dc stitches.
Caution! When you add your 4 dc into the corners, do not miss the very first dc loops that come after that 1 chain gap. You may need to push away your dc's you just made to see it. If you miss this one stitch, your triangle will begin to look nonsymetrical.
Continue each row until you reach the size you want.
I'm not quite sure how the side was made, but you may crochet and add that piece at your own discretion. I would also recommend an icord strap of the same yarn or any strap method that you see fit!
Anyway, i thought this image and diagram combo was very deceptive and basically incorrect and with some testing and scrutiny of the bag image I managed how to make it. Hopefully I'll have a finished product soon with a more comprehensive pattern to follow!
