the scent of adrenaline still lingered faintly, combined with the clean undertone of soap from a quick shower he had forced himself to take. the fight might have been over, but its echoes lived in him, in the heat that radiated off his tanned complexion, in the way his calloused hands flexed unconsciously at his sides as though still searching for something to hold onto. to fight for. her vocals arrived first, and for a second, he did not move. for a man so used to action, to reacting with fists and fury, words like hers were an unfamiliar kind of challenge. but her aureate spheres ( still alight with the embers of his last fight ) softened as they found hers.

She knows all too well, the adrenaline rush during a fight and what happens after it. She is a warrior of the Marai tribe after all ; taught to fight and perfect her abilities and magic since she was little for the great purpose of protecting her vastayan underwater village from one of the void’s rifts ( and for the sake of all Runeterra too ). It was Nami’s love for her village, and the enjoyment of fighting too, that made her the absolute best warrior among the Marais. Regardless of what the elders might think of her — they had judged her immature for the honor of the position of the Tidecaller, but when their chosen one didn’t return from the abyss, she was the only one brave enough to face it. Barely, but Nami has proven her worth to the Marai elders finally becoming their Tidecaller. If only she knew that a much more challenging task was beyond her. Quite literally.

When Nami went to the surface by the rocks and beach of Mount Targon for the ritual trade with the drylanders called Lunari, no one was there. The ritual consisted of trading a pearl, only found in the depths of the abyss, for a moonstone delivered by the Aspect of the Moon. The moonstone is a magical stone used for protection and it is used to secure the borders of the Marai Village from the void creatures and dangerous sea monsters. Nami was instructed by the elders that the Aspect of the Moon would be waiting for the Tidecaller for the trade. But no one was there, not a single drylander, and she panicked.

She also wandered through the beach using her magic to swim through the air until she found a small village and she learned the humans there don’t really appreciate her fish-like appearance. But Nami also learned how to blend in with the drylanders. It was taught by the elders, the vastayan magic of shapeshifting where a Vastaya could change their shape and appearance ( and one the Marais were very creative on using it to go to the surface and other occasions too ).

Nami also learned the rumors about the Aspect of the Moon's whereabouts, which led her here to the first lands. Ionia is a very interesting and spectacular place — a land where Nami could feel its magic pulsating everywhere, in its grounds and trees and creatures, in its people and tribes, in its surroundings and structures. It was like the whole land was alive and yet, hurting at the same time. It was during her search for the Aspect of the Moon ( with no success yet ) that Nami met him, or more like the place he rules. The idea of fighting for mere entertainment is quite weird to Nami ; as a Marai warrior, she takes her role among her tribe very seriously, regardless of her path to achieving it. But Nami also learned that this kind of place is the best to look for information and the fact that she has caught Sett’s attention certainly helps her ( although she still hasn’t decided if that was a good thing or not ).
