An unexpected journey, and everything it's bestowed by Jude Via Flickr: Two years ago, feeling somewhat devoid of purpose in second life, I made a visit to FOCUS magazine. There was a party going on, folks were dancing, someone was DJ-ing, or performing live (can’t remember actually…). Amidst this, I received an IM from Angela Thespian. I'm not entirely sure what she saw in me, but she offered me a golden ticket – a role in this incredible journey to shine a spotlight on artists in Second Life. Since that day, almost every month, I've had the honor of inviting extraordinary artists and personalities to feature in our Focus Artist In Residence (FAIR) gallery. To say that it’s an honour is an understatement, because with it came the pleasure of conversations with these amazing people, the inspiration from their work and the unique ways they framed it in their gallery spaces, and friendships that have flourished. But through it all, I cannot truly express how grateful I am for Angela’s friendship, for her kindness on the occasions when things got tough in RL and she had to take over my gallery duties, for the discussions, the laughter, and the brilliant bits of wisdom. Just as I didn’t expect that opportunity two years ago, I didn’t expect a feature from her. And to see myself on the cover this month, I am, beyond ecstatic. I am proud to be a part of this artistic community, I am privileged to be able to grow within and contribute to it, and whatever comes, my gratitude to FOCUS will remain boundless. Thank you Angela, or as I usually say, thank you bawss :D
