Although this is the first post on the blog, it is chronologically the last post that I'll make, so for ease of scrolling here is a link to the first post I done with my past project Stiff Lip so you can view the research in correct order. 

Other Zine launches 

In my interview with Feels Zine I asked about how essential events where to the Zine and their community, it was obvious that their events helped their Zine grow into what it is today and making their events interactive and relevant was vital in engaging people.

Thats why for the Mock Up launch of De-Railed I wanted to look into the different types of workshops that could be led at the event to engage people. 

In the past I have attended Zine workshops and understand how quickly one can be made by a large group of people, thats why towards the end of my event I want the group to make their own zine led by a facilitator. 

This Zine wouldn't have to be anything like De-Railed but rather becomes engaging and interesting whilst promoting Zines in general.

Ive chosen Static Gallery in Liverpool for the mock up event as I believe the space is a good size and inside matches the plain aesthetic of the Zine whilst still being interesting and diverse, it is also a central location - I did think about the potential of The Baltic Triangle but wanted somewhere more accessible to everyone and also to support the galleries and creative spaces that have been central in Liverpool before the Baltic Triangle.

I did add sound to each button press but unfortunately due to technical issue with the new Mac upgrade the preview recording wouldn't pick it up. I did get technical help from adobe but they said I needed to contact again and download a certain patch that they couldn't offer at the moment. 

I downloaded audio for a app button online through a non licensed source, and learnt about applying it online. 

Inspired by online pdf zines and people not buying physical items due to fears of the virus, the idea of a zine in an app and having that availability on peoples phones, could be great for Zines, and would allow other items like merchandise etc that we often seen with zines to be sold, as well as event tickets etc. 

Combining all my personal knowledge of places that stock zines with internet research and asking people, here is a list of stockists I believe could house the De-Railed Zine.

I research Stockists online and through zine education websites, I contacted the below stores 

Obviously there is a delay because of the virus but I did get some positive responses

When I was looking for places to stock the zine I came across a site that sol both physical zines and PDF versions, the pdf version of a zine intrigued me as I wondered how much demand there would be that. The PDF zines are also bought by ‘ Name Your Price’

I don't ReGram from my own personal Instagram account so searched the internet for the best App that would enable me to do so for De-Railed.

When putting a submission out I wanted to take advantage of the creative community on instagram 

sending the ArtOpenCalls account my submission post which then they shared to their story twice, they have a global audience and are very supportive and friendly, I will continue to send them each submission call out that is put onto instagram to help gather more submissions.

I made an email address first before making an Instagram
