Happy fall! Where I live, it shifts between beautiful sunny fall days and nothing but rain and gloom. I kind of love it either way. Here is a frog who found some cozy shelter from the rain. I made this before he had a name. Because I had to. 

This is a recent commission for my really excellent friend Brandy. She requested a drawing of herself and her pup, Gus, on a broomstick after seeing my illustration of KiKi. It was quite magical to work on. I really tried to challenge myself and pushed my style a little further. I know I could do a lot more to make it more cohesive, but as an experiment I still learned so much from making it. Here’s to making magic. 

Hi. I haven’t been on here in a while. Let’s get caught up. I’ve been making some moves in life. I finally quit my never ending soul sucking retail career! I want to focus on being the best artist and human I can be. I can’t tell you how difficult this has been. One thing that the whole Covid 19 Pandemic has taught me is that I need to be more true to myself. I tried to give my all to work and I gave too much of myself and had nothing to show for it. My marriage was suffering, I hadn’t seen my friends in years, my dogs missed me, and most of all I didn’t know who I was anymore. “Am I even an artist?” I would ask myself this because it didn’t feel like I was. I came home one day super late (which was a regular occurrence) utterly exhausted and sat down and just started crying. I knew I had to quit long before this moment, but this was the breaking point for me. I put in my two weeks notice the next day. I chose to quit during a time where I should have been grateful just to have a job. I felt extremely privileged and guilty. I wouldn’t change my decision for the world. The month after was spent recovering honestly. I took some time for much needed self care and to look at my life choices. How much of what I have done was for me? Not much. So I’ve gone on a path of my own choosing for the first time in a long time. I feel like me for the first time in forever and I’ve really missed her.
