Summary:

Titanic, April 1912

Dennis Whitaker has always wanted to be a doctor but he is fated to be the financier of his father's company. He's been forced into an arranged marriage with a woman in New York that he has never met before. He will do anything to escape his current life.

Michael 'Robby' Robinavitch is an American physician and vagabond. Being the onboard physician for RMS Titanic is his latest adventure. He's never thought about settling down until he meets a wide eyed young man wanting to be his apprentice.

He puts it together one morning as he's walking past the nurse's station. It's Dennis, sitting in his chair, at his work station, wearing his sweater. He has it zipped all the way to the top, the tops of the collar brush against his neck and the ends of his shower-damp hair. He gives the occasional shiver and drops further into the warmth of the green garment each time. He lets the too-long sleeves cover his hands, only the very tips of his fingers are visible as they type away at the keyboard.

Robby lingers long enough for Dennis to finish updating his charts. He watches him stretch his arms above his head for a nice long second before, reluctantly, wiggling out of the sweater and carefully draping it across the back of his chair. Dennis is barely out of sight before Robby's across the room and burying his face in the fabric. There it is.

It's fresh this time. The smell of shampoo, hair gel and skin. Dennis.
