Hello! I am looking for some help!
Don’t worry, no one is sick here! But I AM working on a project to collect data regarding avian/exotics vets around the US that will see farm fowl- chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, swans, peafowl, pheasants, quail and/or ratites.
Why are you doing this?
I’m often contacted via email or social media or even on the phone by people who need help with a sick bird and don’t know where to turn, and vets that will even see fowl (much less have experience) can be difficult to locate, so often the bird will go untreated or even be treated wrong. I can help people in my immediate area by sending them to the vets I have and do see, but when they’re in different states, that gets a lot more difficult, and I would like a resource to turn to so I can help them.
How can you help?
If you have seen or know of a vet in your area (or an area you used to live!) could you take a moment to fill out this form with their information so it can be added to the directory? The form collects no personal data from you, it’s just a way to enter data from veterinary practices- their name, phone number, address, and what sort of farm fowl they see.
Here’s the link in case you need to copy/paste: https://forms.gle/5w4gFF37u9RGJinK9
It can be filled out multiple times if you know of more than one vet that will see farm birds! If you know of avian vets in your area but don’t know if they see farm birds or just parrots and the like, you can select “other” and say so, and I will work to contact them to check.
Where is the directory?
The directory is in progress, but if you want to check if your vet is on it already, it is located here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MC0xk8zLUsGAXGmmb6iRlw4TX5yIaI9huHbI2WD35Xs/
I would really appreciate any help you can give adding data or passing this along so others can find it to add to it!
