Castello di Torre Alfina in Viterbo, Italy. The castle was originally just a watch tower and is known since the 13th century. It was later built into a medieval castle but its history is rather obscure. The fact is that the castle was rebuilt by its owner - a banker - in the 19th century and is now a fine example of gothic revival architecture. It was so popular in the 19th century in Europe. Scratch the gray pseudogothic stones and you will find earlier renaissance and medieval layers.
