Just some thoughts regarding the first chapter of Naruto Gaiden
Okay. It’s time to finally express all of my thoughts regarding the first chapter of Naruto Gaiden.
When I’ve read it for the first time, to be honest, my heart was broken into little pieces. This was the same feeling I had while reading chapter 693 for the first time.
I couldn’t believe my eyes: after all this time, when I finally believed that everything was going to be alright, after being sure that the first chapter will show the interaction between Sasuke, Sakura and Sarada, all I could see at first was still nothing, but extreme sadness and tears in the Uchiha Family. I realized that every single one of these three is still suffering a lot and that thought made me extremely upset.
But then, after the initial shock had ended, I read the chapter again and realized once more, just like it happened with chapter 693, when I wasn’t paying attention at first to Sasuke’s body language, expressions and feelings during Sakura’s second confession, that we tend to overlook some details and often forget to try and reach the deeper meaning of some situations. (This is what the antis are always doing - they simply read some panels and refuse to look beyond and find their true meaning - and this is why they will never be able to understand this manga completely.)
First of all, a really curious thing is that Sarada seems to know NOTHING about the Uchiha clan, about its dark past, about its special powers (the Sharingan) and, moreover, about Sasuke and Sakura’s past and incredible abilities. Just look:
On Sarada’s Narutopedia page, in the “Abilities” section, it is mentioned that “under unknown circumstances, Sarada was able to awaken her clan’s kekkei genkai, the Sharingan”. Also, this early sketch of Sarada confirms this:
If you look closer at her eyes, you will see that she appears to be using the Sharingan in this picture. Is awaking the Sharingan at such an early age the reason why she needs to wear glasses? And wait, why does she wear the Haruno symbol and not the Uchiha one? Were Sasuke and Sakura trying to hide the fact that she’s from the Uchiha clan from soom some possible villains, who would be willing to kidnap the first Uchiha born after the massacre?
Anyway, she seems to know nothing about her special power or about what her parents have gone through when they were younger. But why? Is Sakura trying to hide all of these things from her?
Yes, she clearly is. Let’s look at this panel:
Do you honestly believe that Sakura doesn’t know for sure whether Sasuke wore glasses or not?
Of course she does. But the discussion between her and Sarada was going in a way she was certainly trying to avoid. If she simply replied that Sasuke had never worn glasses, Sarada’s next question would have immediately been this: “Then… Why do I wear glasses?” And Sakura certainly wanted to hide the answer to this question from Sarada, at least for the moment, so she was trying to lead the conversation to another subject. I think Sasuke had left to do something very important (probably regarding Sarada, but I will comment on this a little bit later) and Sakura’s waiting for him to return. When he will be back (very soon, as we can see) they will finally be able to clarify some things to Sarada.
So, by answering with: ‘Ay least… I don’t think so…”, Sakura only tried to avoid that question, as she knew that Sarada, hearing her response, would probably concentrate only on the vague way she answered.
Now, let’s look to the next panel (don’t worry, I noticed Sarada’s eye in this panel, but I will come back later on this subject):
Sarada, hearing her mother’s previous answer, says that Sasuke and Sasuke’s relationship is really strange. This makes me question one thing: If Sarada said that their relationship is weird, then she knows that Sakura and Sasuke probably communicate in some way? I mean, if she had never seen Sakura and Sasuke communicate, then wouldn’t have she just said something like: “What’s weird is you never talk to Papa.”
Furthermore, the way Sakura reacted also means something. She got really angry and even punched the ground. This clearly shows that she knows more than Sarada does, but can’t tell her everything right now. She got furious, as she knows what Sarada said about her and Sasuke’s relationship is wrong, but is still unable to clarify these things to Sarada. This is why she immediately realized that she overreacted due to these circumstances and felt sorry.
Let’s take a look to this panel, too:
She apologizes to Sarada for raising her voice and tells her that Sasuke is away on a very important mission (which seems to have lasted for over several years and this makes me believe that this mission is, in fact, about his family, better said about Sarada).
Guys, do you really think that Sakura would have simply waited for Sasuke for such a long time, without doing anything, if he wouldn’t have left in order to do something extremely important? Do you think she would simply do nothing and just wait? Of course not. But she knows Sasuke has a really important reason for being gone for so long.
Also, she tells Sarada that her “feelings and emotions are definitely reaching out to and are connected to” Sasuke, thing which is clearly visible in these two situations:
As you can see, Sasuke is clearly able to sense Sarada’s feelings and emotions. But how can he do that? And how can Sakura be so sure about this? Even Sarada asked Sakura this question, but before she could answer anything, both Sakura and Sarada sadly had to watch their house fall (as a result of Sakura’s incredibly powerful punch).
Let’s look to the next panel:
Seeing the house falling apart and remembering that she still hasn’t paid off the loan (what loan?), Sakura immediately faints.
Once again, in Sarada’s Narutopedia page, it is mentioned that this seems to be the second time she has destroyed their house, this probably explaining the loan they needed to take out and, also, the sudden change of their house’s design from Chapter 700 (the green house from the bottom):
To the first chapter of Naruto Gaiden:
The one from Chapter 700 clearly looks taller and has a different design. This means that they moved out in the timeskip between Chapter 700 and Naruto Gaiden. But why? Because Sakura destroyed their first house, too (like it’s believed)? If so, what made her furious the first time?
Let’s continue with the next panel:
So, Sakura is taken to Shizune and she tells Sarada that “ever since she was a kid, she’s always had a penchant for passing out.”
Umm, as far as I remember, she has truly passed out only twice in the entire manga, both times being related to Sasuke and both times taking place during the first Bell Test:
- First time was when she saw Sasuke being terribly injured, during the Bell Test, although this was only Kakashi-Sensei’s genjustu:
- The second time took place also during the Bell Test, after she had seen only Sasuke’s head above the ground:
But after this, Sakura started to become more mature I don’t remember seeing her faint again, not even once and not even in the critical situations.
So, is Shizune also trying to hide something from Sarada? Yeah, it totally seems like that. It seems that Sakura has begun to faint quite often in the timeskip from Chapter 700 to Naruto Gaiden. But how is this possible? She has an incredible chakra control and has proved to be the most powerful Medical-nin. Why does she faint? I mean, yeah, seeing your own house falling apart would be a big shock for everyone, but someone like Sakura shouldn’t just simply faint, especially if this seems to not the first time she saw something like this. Still, she fainted. Could this also be connected to Sarada? I’ve heard many people defending this theory. I shall return to discuss it once I arrive on Sarada’s eye problems.
Also, in this panel, we can clearly see that the first thing Sarada started looking for in their damaged house was their family photos. This simply suggests how much she loves her family and her Papa, even though it seems she doesn’t remember to have met him at all.
So, Sarada realizes that the picture with her father from the family photos is, in fact, larger and contains two other people: Suigetsu and Karin. Then, she contentrates on Karin and the fact that she also wears glasses starts bothering her.
Hmm. Because of these panels, a lot of SK shippers have cross-tagged and consider that Sarada will prove to be, in fact, a Sasuke and Karin’s child in the end. x’D By the way, SK shippers, never forget that it has been stated on numerous occasions that Sarada is Sasuke and Sakura’s daughter. The site for “Boruto: Naruto The Movie” mentions that; Sarada, Sakura and Sasuke’s info pages on Narutopedia mentions that; Kishimoto-Sensei has described Sarada as “the child who was born between Sasuke and Sakura” in his last interview, which was published just a little while ago, but all of you, antis, seem to be avoiding it; a family portrait of Sasuke, Sarada and Sakura has been revealed earlier, which is called “Sasuke’s Family”; Sakura is wearing the Uchiha clan symbol in the first Naruto Gaiden chapter, which proves, once again, the fact that she’s married to Sasuke.
To be honest, this part didn’t bother me at all, as Kishimoto-Sensei decided to include it in the Manga ONLY in order to end ONCE AND FOR ALL the discussion brought up by many SK shippers all the time, regarding the fact that Sarada wouldn’t be, in fact, Sakura’s daughter.
This part is really easy to predict: Sarada will ask Sakura or maybe Sasuke (when he will be back, as we can see from the last panel that he’s on his way to return to Konoha) who Karin is and whether she is her real mother. She will get the answer that we all should know by now (NO, of course) and then, she will certainly ask why she has to wear glasses, while both Sakura and Sasuke don’t. This is another reason why Kishimoto-Sensei decided to include Karin in their story: this way, the action will somehow lead to the point where Sarada (and we) will finally receive some clarifications on why she needs the glasses. And the Karin theory will FINALLY disappear once and for all.
Now, why did Sakura need to use an old photograph with Sasuke, during the time he was still collaborating with Team Taka? Didn’t she have photos with Sasuke, Sarada and herself together?
Well, I am sure she did. But she couldn’t show them to Sarada. Sakura is trying to hide them, this being only one of the things that are hidden from Sarada. Maybe the reason why they have to be hidden is because of Sasuke’s Rinnegan and Sharingan, about which Sarada must now know yet.
Also, this photo perfectly connects to the story, as the only way Kishimoto-Sensei could have ended the Karin theory forever was by showing Karin to Sarada. And how else could he have done that, if not this way? Karin has NOTHING to do with the Uchiha Family, so there was no other way she could have been shown, but together with Team Taka. And as Sasuke isn’t a part of this team anymore, the only way was making Sarada find an old photograph with them.
I bet that Karin will disappear once and for all from the manga, immediately after the argument is finished. xD
Also, how come that Team Taka had a photo with them? Who took it? Jūgo (as he seems to not be in it)? And why do they even have one? xD
Anyway, this photo HAD to appear, so the action could continue just like I’ve previously mentioned.
Now, I’d like to return at some things.
First of all, let’s look at this panel:
And now look at this one:
Well, yeah, between these two panels, there’s a sudden change in the way Sarada talks about her father.
In the first one, she said that Boruto resembles her a little, especially when it comes to her Papa. And what do we know about the relationship between Boruto and Naruto? Well, even though Boruto seems to not be pleased at all with the amount of time his father spends with him, we do know that they do spend at least some time together. Boruto always seems to be trying to find new pranks, this being a way he manages catch his father’s attention quite often:
So, yeah, Boruto and Naruto do spend, at least, a little time together.
And as Sarada said that Boruto resembles her a a little, when it comes to their fathers, wouldn’t this mean that she and Sasuke are have also been spending, at least, a short period of time together?
But, in the panel from Naruto Gaiden, she says that as far as she can possibly remember, she and Sasuke haven’t met once. By the way, this doesn’t mean that Sasuke has been absent for over 12 years. Kids start remembering different moments around the age of 3 or 4 years, so Sarada wouldn’t remember him even if he left later, when she was two years old. Even if Sasuke stayed only for two years with Sarada, do you realize how many beautiful moments these two would have together?
Anyway, doesn’t this sudden change of attitude seem odd?
I’ve heard some people that were sustaining the fact that Sasuke actually spent more time with her and Sakura, but had to leave for a very important reason and all the moments Sarada spent with him had to be erased from her memory. Others claim that maybe he and Sakura have been meeting in secret, as, for some reason, Sasuke must not meet Sarada just yet, as he has to keep some things (his Rinnegan, the Uchiha clan’s Sharingan and the reason why she wears glasses) hidden from her. Well, we shall wait and see.
Also, do you really think that Naruto would simply do NOTHING, if he knew that Sasuke didn’t have any proper reason to be absent for such a long time? Naruto’s main dream was to bring Sasuke back to Konoha and he tried to find him almost during the entire manga. Now, do you think he would simply watch how Sasuke stays away from his family for no reason and how sad Sarada is, without doing ANYTHING? No. Naruto would immediately try to find Sasuke and bring him back, IF there wasn’t such an important reason because of which he had to be gone for so long.
Okay, now the last thing.
Let’s look at this panel:
Just look how blurried her eye looks. Without wearing her glasses, she would see completely blurry.
And, to finish this Karin theory regarding Sarada’s glasses forever, don’t you really know from who Sarada inherited this bad eyesight?
Look at Sasuke’s eyes, before he chose to change them with Itachi’s:
He saw completely blurry, as his eyesight had weakened. If he hadn’t changed his eyes with his brother’s, he would have probably gone blind or, at least, would have had to wear glasses.
Also, even when having Itachi’s eyes, Sasuke’s eyesight gets weakened and turns, once again, blurry. This happens during the final battle between Sasuke and Naruto. Let’s look at these panels:
Sasuke’s powers weakened. Naruto realized this and that’s why he managed to hit him.
Now, let’s look at these panels, which take place after the end of Sasuke and Naruto’s final fight:
And, especially, this one:
Just look, Sasuke and Sarada’s eyes look exactly the same - both of them are really blurried:
But then I have to ask myself: What if Sarada’s eye problems are, in fact, worse? What if she sadly has something similar to what her uncle Itachi had? What if her eye problems are getting even worse, as she’s not a full Uchiha?
Then, this may be the reason why Sasuke has left for such a long time. Maybe he had to leave, in order to find a cure for his daughter’s severe eye problems and is determined to not return until he finds, at least, something. And maybe Sakura heals Sarada really often while she’s sleeping and this would explain her constant lack of chakra and why she seems to have started fainting so often, especially during the timeskip between Chapter 700 and Naruto Gaiden.
Do you really think that Sasuke would have simply left his precious family, which he has ALWAYS wanted, for such a long time if he hadn’t had to do something really, REALLY important? Something that may be, in fact, related to his family, or, better said, to his little daughter?
So, please, stop saying bad words about Sasuke, when you don’t even know the circumstances of his departure. Stop basing him. I am sure he is doing this only for his family and the reason why he has been gone for so long is that he doesn’t want to return until he finds all of the answers that he’s been looking for.
And never forget that he’s probably the one who’s suffering the most right now, as he wasn’t able to see his little princess and his beloved wife for such a long time. At least Sarada and Sakura are together and have each other, but he’s all alone.
