One of the remarkably well-preserved 4,000-year-old wooden wagons unearthed in the village of Lchashen near Lake Sevan. Crafted from oak, these wagons are among the oldest known examples ever discovered and offer a rare glimpse into Bronze Age transportation. Today, one is on display at the History Museum of Armenia.
The Lchashen wagon, discovered near Lake Sevan in Armenia, is one of the most remarkable Bronze Age wooden vehicles ever unearthed. While it is often described as 4,000 years old, archaeologists commonly date the best-preserved covered wagon to around 1500 B.C., making it approximately 3,500 years old. Regardless of the exact date, it remains an exceptionally rare archaeological discovery.
The wagon was uncovered in the Lchashen cemetery, a major Bronze Age burial site revealed in the 1950s after the water level of Lake Sevan dropped. Archaeologists excavated more than 500 graves filled with rich grave goods, including several wagons. Rather than abandoned everyday vehicles, these wagons were likely placed in elite burials and may have served a symbolic role in funerary rituals, carrying high-status individuals into the afterlife.
Its remarkable preservation is what makes the find so significant. Wooden artifacts rarely survive for thousands of years, yet this wagon retained its oak frame, large solid wheels, and distinctive curved canopy. It demonstrates the sophisticated woodworking skills of Bronze Age craftspeople long before iron tools became widespread. The best-preserved Lchashen wagon was constructed from at least 70 individual wooden pieces joined with mortise-and-tenon joints and other carefully fitted connections. Its design reflects a high level of craftsmanship and engineering, making it far more advanced than a simple utility cart.

This not a coincidence. Minds greater than ours plan this stuff way in advance.

As a general rule I dislike bedding down with sea life in my bed. However, there are exceptions.
This is a hygienic personal gum massager designed to stimulate circulation and prevent teeth loosening. It was sold by Atlas Industries in the 1950s and 1960s for $9.95. It featured a unique design intended for "localized massage" and boasted U.L. approval. The ad offered a satisfaction guarantee with a return policy of 5 days.
My girlfriend has been looking for one of these dental stimulators for years as her mom swore that the localized massage was amazing.
