new advent calendar 2025
Hi, I made a new advent calendar :-)
This year it`s all about my time in Scotland and photos that were taken there, on Arran, many on Bute, in the Trossachs and in Glasgow. Not all photos are taken by me, in fact most of them are taken by T, like this one :-) It is so lovely to look at someone else's photos after a stroll, it is like being on the stroll again just with someone else's eyes. I love doing this and that's maybe how I came up with photos as backgrounds again. Another reason is that I still enjoy the process of making a collage a lot, in the end I do not draw much.
Throughout the summer I chose my backgrounds and did all of the sketches for the scenes to get a rough idea whether the animation could be done by me within a reasonable amount of time. I am slow, and again, this year I only made one animation in the spring, so it is a bit hard to remember how to do it, and again, I started with the animations only in November.
I knew already and it happened of course: things become to look a bit different then, the light changes, the leaves fall, the clouds get darker, and I felt that I needed a bit more of what I associate with winter and autumn in my advent calendar. So I felt to replace some of the scenes and there will be a bit of snow again! I brought back some of my favourite drawings from former advent calendars and combined them in a new way (I don't draw much … I like to put things together), and at the very end the squirrel and the hedgehog wanted to have an appearance again :-)
