New Friends || Frankie and Cindy
Starter for @floatingrizzoliâ
Cindy saw the new Inspector walk out of the building. She knew that whatever was going on with him and Lindsay was more than first-day jitters. But she didnât think it was appropriate to say. He looked haunted in a buried way. She decided to take steps to fix that. If he was working with Lindsay, he was part of the extended family.
She caught him moving fast from the coffee cart. She smiled at him. âHi, Rizzoli!â She yelled as she raced to catch up. She tilted her head at him as she slowed her pace to match his out of reflex. âYou look like Boxer beat you up. I know what that feels like, Wanna go grab a cup of coffee?â
Frankie wanted to go home. No, that wasnât right. He wanted to go to his shitty little apartment and wallow in the bullshit going through his mind before he had to pull himself together for work. He hadnât expected anyone to want to stop him, let alone the cute redhead that had taken pity on him earlier in the station.
âOh, uh.â Goddamn it, Rizzoli, donât be awkward. âNah, she didnât beat me up.â He looked at her, curious. Why did she want to get coffee with him? She had essentially said he looked like a mess. But her smile was infectious and Frankie felt himself returning it.
âI uh... I guess I could do coffee?â His stomach protested the idea of more caffeine without some sort of food as well, and he added, âDo you know someplace with good muffins? Iâm new to the city and havenât been here long enough to really know whatâs good and whatâs not.â
