“Hey” jinx sips a coffee.
“Hey.” Wally grins too wide.
“I did.” She feels discomfort from his bright joy. “You asked me to. I thought it was important. It is important, isn’t it?”
“Yes, of course. I just- I didn’t think you’d come.” He smiles softer. “You aren’t easy to reach or find and it’s impossible to read you some times. When I left the message- I just couldn’t be sure.”
“Hn, you think too much.” She rolls her eyes.
“Do you want another coffee or something?” He tries to break the growing awkwardness.
“I want the reason I was called on.” Jinx huffs. “Believe it or not, I could’ve had plans.”
“Plans? Like a robbery?” He whispers.
“I can date. People find me attractive.” She hesitates on the word attractive. It pains her to argue she’s pretty. She knows she’s a lot of things, most of them bad, but pretty shouldn’t be a question.
“I know.” He does? She raises a brow. “It’s more that I didn’t know you could date.”
“Nothing! Nothing!” He realizes his mistake. He’s offering her when he’s just in shock. “Here! I brought these. It’s… some stolen stuff that looks magical. You’re magic and I thought I’d pick your brain.”
“No other magic being to pick?” Jinx takes the file.
“I’m not of sorts with most at the moment.” His honesty shocks her. “Where was your date going to be?”
“Star thing.” She sighs. “It’s some shooting star event. It seemed cool, but he’s no loss.”
“To the star event. Shooting stars are cool.”
“Are you going to make some wishes?” She mocks him as she flips over papers.
“Sure but only if you do.” He laughs. “Come on. You must have some wish.”
“Awww, hurtful but still… there must be something you want.” Wally presses on. She glances at him with cold eyes.
“If I tell you, you’d have to die.”
“That’s the great thing about wishes! You don’t have to tell me! It’s a secret in your heart and dreams!”
“You sound stupid.” Jinx shakes her head.
“I’ll go.” She hides a smile. “Only because if they strike again I want this.” She points to a necklace.
“I can try.” Jinx replies. “I’ll even make it my wish, my dearest wish in fact.”
“I’m not letting you keep that.”
“Welp, I’m not going than.” She crosses her eyes.
Somehow Wally wins in getting her to the star event. Jinx smirks at his side. She plays with the cheap necklace he bought her.
“Are you making a wish?” She beams at the sight before them.
“Yeah I’m making one. You?”
“Maybe.” She laughs. “Maybe.”
