Maddie nodded as she listened to him and couldn’t help but gasp at the small, understated ring. “Oh my god. Baby. I love it, and I love you. Put it on.”

Sliding the ring onto her finger, he smiled. “I love you so much, Maddie.” Wiping a small tear from her cheek, he pressed his lips to hers.

“Hold onto her then. Don’t let her go,” Richard smiled at his brother again. “Yes. Make her stop doing that.”

“I won’t, I mean, I’ve already gotten her a promise ring.” Brushing a strand of hair away from the girls face, he smiled. “If I had a potion to make her stop, I’d give it to you, bro.”

“It’s so cute. I’m Ella…. like Cinderella, but you know, not.”

“Isn’t your sister in that Cinderella movie?”

“Trust me, it’s not the cat doing that.”

“Wow, rude.”

Maddie elbowed him playfully, “You’re supposed to disagree.” Reaching out to take his hand, a curious tone hit her voice, “What is it?”

Locking their fingers together, he shoved his hand into his pocket, his fingers clasping around the ring. “Well, you know, I always tell you that we’ll get married and stuff but I um, I wanted to get you something, you know?” Pulling the small silver ring out, he held it up to her. “It’s a promise ring, Demi helped me pick it out, you know what I’m like with these things..”

“If she makes you happy, yes she is,” Richard laughed. “You can pick her up if you want to.”

“She really does, man.” Fletcher nodded, slipping his hands beneath the small girls arms and hoisted her up onto his hip. “You’re getting big! You need to stop growing up!”

“Oh I love Disney, it’s such a great theme to go with.”

“I’m so happy with the name. Speaking of names, I don’t think we’ve met, I’m Fletcher.”

“That’s his face, Fletch. Trust me, even I get that look.”

“Cats always look so evil, like they’re plotting my death.”

“Half of me thought your answer was going to be because I’m as mean as you.” She joked, resting her head on his shoulder, “But you are right about the loving you part.”

“Yeah okay, that too.” He chuckled. “Well, since we’ve established that you do, in fact, love me. I’ve got something for you.” Fletcher breathed out, resting his head on top of hers.

“Uncle Fletcher is actually a godsend, isn’t he?” Richard smiled at the interaction between his brother and child.

“And so is Aunt Maddie, am I right?” The girl waved her arms around, obviously excited by the attention she was receiving. “She is so precious, oh my god.”

“And you called him Thumper? Oh how gorgeous.”

“It was Maddie’s suggestion, we were trying to come up with something Disney themed.”

“Is Aslan hurting anyone right now?” She asked, as the cat glared at Fletcher.

“He’s hurting me, look at the way he’s staring at me!”

“You get your poor brother to call our dog? Oh my god,” Maddie joked, “Why am I with someone as evil as you again?”

“Because you’re in love with me and we’re going to get married and have babies, remember?” He raised an eyebrow, petting the dog like an evil mastermind.

“It’s not for lack of trying,” He smiled. “She’s sleeping through the night again, so that makes for a happy Daddy if that means anything.”

“Happy dad and happy uncle when Uncle Fletcher babysits, huh?” He nodded at the girl, watching her face light up.

“Control you animal Fletcher. Geez,” Emily joked from her chair. She had a cat curled around behind her neck, so she couldn’t really comment.

“Control your animal, Emily.” He mocked, making a face at the girl.

“Oh it’s no worry. He’s so cute.”

“Isn’t he just?”
