Hearing his name, spoken with a heavy accent, Ron turned around with some surprise. Seeing his sister in law, he let a big, ridiculous goofy grin slide onto his face (okay fine, even if he didn’t have a crush on her, she was still part Veela and he was a known idiot). “Fleur!” She was the first person he had seen that he knew, the first bit of promise that his loved ones would be here. His family, his friends - well, all the same thing to him, really.
“Bloody hell, can’t believe you’re here. Would’a thought you were above America, too crass for you.” In his relief to see family, he pulled the blonde into a hug, although if he’d thought about it, he wouldn’t have been sure whether she’d be okay with that. “Glad you are though.” He patted her back lightly, eyes filled with hope. “What about Bill, is he here?” He couldn’t imagine his brother wanted to be away from her for long, not when she’d proven to be just as tough as any other girl in the family and chosen to stay with him.
But he knew very well there was more to the story in this place. He had two lives here, the one that felt so real in his heart but he hadn’t seen proof until he saw Fleur, and then the one that he had always wanted but hadn’t made him happy when he got it. “Come on, let me buy you something to eat.” Not that he would have been able to make that offer before, but here he could. Here, he was different.
it was as if someone finally heard all her prayers and made a decision she really deserves her family back. seeing ron was refreshing, she has almost forgotten how much love she held for him but once she laid eyes on him it all came flooding back to her. she could feel the huge rock of fear falling off of her heavy heart. she might’ve not known where is bill, her children, her friends, the rest of the weasley family... basically anyone she has loved and cherished but seeing the first glimpse of those familiar ginger hair gave her at least some reassurance and hope.
a soft chuckle escaped her lips as he spoke up. “believe me, it wasn’t my choice of place but oh well, here we are,” she replied with a sigh with her arms still around ron. she wasn’t naturally very affectionate, especially when it came to anyone other than bill and their children which usually meant people assumed she is cold or too stuck up if she can’t get over herself because of simple hug, however this, this is what she really craved. familiar arms holding her comfortly. it was almost like coming home after a long day to a house filled with music and the smell of good food. it made her eyes sparkle for a brief moment but that sparkle quickly faded away once ron mentioned bill’s name. “bill— bill is— i actually don’t know where he is and it is the worst feeling in the world. i have no idea where he is or what is happening with him, with the kids, with this place... and it’s driving me insane. bloody hell.”
being isolated from her family made fleur think a lot. maybe too much for her own sake. she shook her head to avoid another negative thought entering her mind and looked up at her brother-in-law and smiled sadly. “let’s go. i wish your mum was around with her chicken and ham pie. whenever she came over to see us, she’d bring one and bill and i used to eat the whole thing when kids fell asleep. then we just sat on the sofa because we were so full we couldn’t move.”
