Throwback: X-FIRE era (~2015) Zhan-ge claiming his standard Mandarin skills were top of their class (they weren’t).
In 2019, when asked when he would show everyone his certificate:
(Some context: Pu tong hua, or standard Mandarin, is the standard spoken dialect of China. During the early periods of his entertainment career, Xiao Zhan was more accustomed to his home dialect (Chongqing), whose tones and pronunciations are drastically different from those of pu tong hua; his pu tong hua had a noticeable accent and he frequently mixed up pronunciations of certain words.
Hence, his claim that he could teach high schoolers pu tong hua was…ludicrous.)
