You wrote this for me? Come lay down Captain Canary
So I wrote this on your birthday, and was going to post it as a gift...but life got in the way. So happy belated birthday!Â

Leonard makes his way back toward their room. Hopefully for more than an hours sleep this time. Between back-to-back missions & the time storms they are running on fumes. None more so than Sara. Heâd intended to sneak her away for their anniversaryâŚbut if they donât find the root cause to the storms heâll never convince her to leave the team.
He waves the door open, stepping in the dimly lit room with a sigh. The first thing to catch his attention is that Sara is no longer asleep, and is instead sitting at the desk. He doesnât think sheâs been up long; if the way sheâs staring distantly at the closed book in front of her is any indicator. âStorm wake you?â
She looks up, giving a little nod, âeverything aâright?â
He shrugs, ânothing that cannot wait until morning. Gideon is tracing the disturbance as we speak.â He slips out of the sweater heâd thrown on over his sleeping shirt, folding it as he moves toward the dresser.
âLen?â He looks to where Sara fidgets in her chair. âIâm sorry, I think this was meant to be a surprise?â She holds up a letter, at which point he realizes the book and note are the anniversary gift he hadnât moved before heading to the bridge.
She nods to herself, the answer apparently obvious in his hesitated response. âI saw my name and thought it might be a note you left when you got up. By the time I realized it wasnâtâŚâ She gives him a small smile, âI didnât know you could be such a romantic.â
âDoesnât work with my Captain Cold persona.â He replies easily, making his way back toward her. She rolls her eyes, and he shakes his head. âIt was meant for the anniversary getaway that weâll have once our current crisis is solved.â
âWeâre having a getaway?â She sets the letter back down, âI like the sound of that.â She stands, closing the small distance between them. âAs four your reputation, Iâm pretty sure the whole team knows you better than thatâŚâ her sentence trails off into a yawn.
He chuckles, pressing a kiss to her crown. âCom on, you should get back to bed.â
âOnly if you come too,â she leans into his chest, arms snaking around his back. âthe time quakes bother me less if youâre here.â While he knows the statement is true, she says it in a way more similar to pouting than any real fear of the storms.
âWell,â he drawls, resting his head on hers. âI suppose I can spare a few hours for sleep, despite my many duties as co-captain.â She mumbles something into his chest, earning a hum of amusement before he leads her to bed. She curls into his side, and they are both sound asleep in minutes.
Thank you, my dear!
