Beck meets Sam and be still my heart. Good god. Whatever Beck has been through by this point, too, I think he probably NEEDS a Sam. Oh and maybe I did have one crit actually, but it's not really, I just want to know how Beck knew to end up in Sam's place or if the laser and desk were moved and now spit the programs out there (arguably safer, if they're friendly). And pardon me but I love this a LOT. Yeah, I really do.

It has its issues but it's a lot of fun, and has really distinctive aesthetic (which I love).

Well do keep in mind this is the actor who only has like one slice of POV to work with and... well really I don't know, I actually agree with what you're saying, I'm just trying to hope his lack of anything whatsoever about Mara is 'cause the focus is on Zed--and you can't blame him anyway, the show's own protrayal of Mara isn't the weapons repair expert she apparently is, it's more often "oh the renegade, I bet he's cute!" and then that time she sort of threw Zed a bone by punching out that nasty thief, and even in THAT it was about Zed and not her, only her as she related to him. We need a Mara-centric B-story at some point too, we really do. Like more than once, even. On that count I think his description of her is the story's fault, anyway. And I definitely o_O'd a bit at the degree he seemed to emphasize it but I suppose Zed's biggest story so far was the bike theft ep, which harped on that a lot. Also I growled a little myself when he said Zed was ugly. I do kind of agree with Corddry on the hair issue (get Zed to a re-skin salon, stat!) but I like his general features. And yeah he's really pretty normal looking too as compared to some the rest, as you say. One of the two "bad guys" from the race ep (it is Bartik right?) has that craaaaaazy nose/mouth/chin ratio. (For Tesler actually I think the exaggeration on his features maintains some kind of "safe" ratio that stops most people from going "whoa weird"--he's definitely cartoony, but not eye-twitchingly unusual) Beck as moral center, uhhh. Yeah well I think Mr Corddry might've conflated that with "character who is trying to do the right thing but, as portrayed, is really more of an audience avatar who is there to have arguably generic reactions and to let Tron be fucking awesome." Now I've inferred some traits into Beck myself, for story purposes, 'cause don't we all want them to have more depth than Disney wants to (or is able to) give them. And did you eyeroll at all at the question comparing Uprising's writing to Aaron Sorkin? Christ, reporters, really?. Speaking of writing, the show has other (nitpicky?)"surface" issues too--I just rewatched the race ep and there's that scene where Pavel takes over the drill and he's shrieking at the Blackguard minions "I'M THE HEAD HONCHO, THE BIG CHEESE, NUMERO UNO" and I was like, wtf is that supposed to be? They don't even HAVE cheese! OR SPANISH! (...probably? Now attempting to decide if they're actually speaking English 'cause Flynn's American or if that's just how we see it because underneath all that it's just like when Russians in some older movies speak English when there aren't any English-speakers around so that the audience can understand... probably the latter). Whoa I tl;dr'd all over you.
