“do you need me to do anything? maybe i can heat up a bottle?” ethan wanted to do something helpful or at least feel like he was contributing. having a newborn son had never been on the cards for ethan, especially not when he was the age he was but one night out with his best friend had led them ending up in bed together, which then resulted in their son. he could never regret it though, thankfully their friendship hadn’t been affected, they were as close as they always had been and the love he had for his son was like nothing he’d felt before. people had always seen him as somewhat immature but he’d matured a lot through the pregnancy and the two weeks since he’d been born. it was difficult being away from them because he didn’t live with her, so he tried to be there as often as he could without overstepping any boundaries. if she didn’t want him there for whatever reason, then he was happy to leave or be there when it was something she was happy with. he wanted everything to be as easy as possible. “or maybe you can get a couple of hours of sleep while i’m here? i’m sure i can manage for a little while.”

hearing the door, rowan paused for a minute in the middle of studying, not sure if she wanted to see anyone but then she had never been a person to leave someone waiting. with a small sigh, she stood and made her way to the door, running her fingers through her hair as it opened and she came face-to-face with the person she didn’t want to see. apparently the world was not on her side since she normally would have been at work and was only at home because she’d been given the day to study. her chest tightened at seeing slater again, still not over the fact that their relationship had come to such an acrimonious end. “hey.” her tone was firm, very unlike the way she would normally speak to slater but then, that had gone out the window when she’d found out slater had been on dating apps and she could only think that she wasn’t good enough for the other girl. “i wasn’t going to do it for you so you’ll have to search for it yourself.” it had been torturing her, the sight of slaters things among her own but she wasn’t about to do something that might have been deemed helpful to her ex girlfriend. “can you just...can you make it quick?” seeing her again was bringing up all the emotions that she had felt when they had broken up and she really didn’t want to cry in front of slater, not again. biting on her bottom lip, rowan swallowed hard and stepped to the side to allow slater the room to walk in. “you probably know where most of it is.”

A small smirk pulled at the corner of her lips as the guy pretty much scuttled away from him. She couldn’t say she was surprised and if he knew who she was related to, then there was another reason why he was so quick to run away. Turning her attention back to the woman in front of her, her smirk turned into a smile and she was glad to be able to help. There hadn’t been a downside to any of it, not when the woman was as beautiful as she was. “No, you don’t need to apologise. I was happy to help and he didn’t seem to be taking no for an answer,” she stated with a small shrug, glancing down at their joint hands for a second but before she could say anything about it, the woman was removing it. “I’m Ally. Nice to meet you Delilah.” Ally could have easily walked away at that stage but she stayed where she was, somewhat intrigued by the woman in front of her and she wanted to keep it going.”Why don’t we see if we can make your day a little better, huh?” Gesturing towards the barman behind the bar, she pointed to the empty glasses in front of them, making it clear that she wanted more of the same. “I think a couple more drinks will help.” Running her fingers through her blonde hair, she turned her attention back to the other woman. “So I can’t say I’ve seen you in here before.”

It was almost impossible not to look at AJ when she looked as good as she did and normally, he probably would have been touching her as much as possible but he was going to be respectful because that was the kind of guy he was. He’d also never known her to drink either but outside the hospital before they’d starting dating, it was fair to say that he hadn’t seen much of her socially. It was even hard to touch when his hand was moved near her collarbone but he followed the instruction nonetheless. “It might be a little me and a lot of the alcohol,” he chuckled, dropping his hand as he kissed her. Matthew had been making the most of the little moments they had, giving her a kiss when they passed in the hospital but he did love when they had more time together, they just didn’t have enough of it because of their shifts. The question caught him off guard because he wasn’t going to stay, not wanting to be seen as taking advantage but he also didn’t want to disappoint her either when she had asked. “Yeah, course I will.” Wrapping an arm around her shoulders as she snuggled into him, he pressed a kiss to the top of her head, keeping her close. “Come on, let’s get you out of here, yeah? Sleep this off.” Keeping a tight grip on her, he led her through the busy bar and pretty much let out a sigh of relief when they got outside. “Car is just around the corner, think you can make it that far or do you wanna jump on my back or something?”
