Posted a screenshot of another post calling Elliot Page his name and pronouns and saying he's "had a glowdown" and not only tagged it as transmisogyny but when I said, "how is this misogyny? Calling men unattractive isn't misogyny"

A fucking MOD told me, verbatim, "It’s misogyny because the people shaming him are reacting to him as a woman and believe he is still a woman. It’s pure, distilled, 100%misogyny."

Like idk girl being mean to a man isn't usually the same as systemic abuse of women but apparently I'm wrong now.

Like, I want to empathise with you about how rough it is being pre-transition when you want to transition, but also...just do it. There's never been an ideal time to be trans and transition, and it looks like there's not going to be a good time any time soon, so just do it? Better to rip the bandaid off than to spend the next few years being miserable and finding that it's still not the ideal time to be trans.

TRULY i'm legitimately living in poverty but every once in a while i get accused of being wealthy and financially privileged because i live in a city and take hormones. i'm privileged to have moved to a blue state that provides health insurance that covers those hormones, of course, but i came here from florida, where that is very much not the case. it's like when i was arguing with those guys a while back who were saying "by telling transmascs to DIY HRT, you're telling transmascs to go get assaulted" as if it just isn't possible to get steroids from gymbros. the learned helplessness of the suburban transgenders can feel paralyzing but it's something you can overcome, you can take actions to make changes in your life

First person replying was a transmasc who made me explain that transmisogyny is different from transphobia, and when I said "trans women face transphobia and are attacked as women" they said "well in my country men who are feminine are attacked" like. Ok yeah that is transmisogyny. Not misandry or targeted at trans men.

Second person said I was a transphobe, literally days later, and called me a "fiend", for saying that trans men benefit from the patriarchy, because they are men. I'm so tired.

like why do you think that this person is caping for cis men being able to wear clothes they've always historically worn, either as a way to explore their identity or to explicitly mock trans women, and saying it's a Bad Thing to even vaguely suggest that a man who is feminine could be a woman?

when your group's biggest struggle is getting people to recognize that you exist, instead of a long shared history of, like, battling employment/housing discrimination, or fighting for the right to medical care, or simply having your humanity recognized at all, etc. of course your group is just going to end up holding pissing contests online and looking for ways to feel special rather than actually doing anything important. lol

yeah exactly. like, when we say "there is no 'ace culture'" we aren't saying "asexual people aren't creative or connected to community enough to create any culture", we're saying "there has been no institutional or systemic oppression of asexuals that results in the kind of necessity for asexual connection and co-operation that creates culture". i mean, it's not like aroace people are looking for partners, so there wasn't a need to secretly signal your non-partnering non-sex-having to find like-minded others. there's just not much to rally around
