Itch itch itch! It was normal for dragons to sleep for weeks at a time, especially when they were injured, but upon waking, Nana had found that her broken leg had healed, and a new problem had arisen. She was molting. 

It was a necessary part of growing up, but it wasn’t pretty. Torn feathers and peeled skin lined her den. She had found a restaurant and eaten their entire supply of salmon for next week. Most of all, she was grouchy. How could someone blame her when it felt that her skin was crawling with ants? 

Footsteps echoed in the entrance to her den, and she let out a small bleat at them, followed by a puff of fire.
