Did you know that tuna literally cannot stop swimming?
Unlike most fish, they lack the ability to pump water over their gills and must constantly swim with their mouths open just to breathe. These top ocean predators are vital to marine ecosystems. Atlantic tunas are also built for speed! With torpedo-shaped bodies, species like the albacore can race through the water at more than 50 miles per hour. Even cooler: Bluefin tunas are warm-blooded, which gives them the muscular power to thrive and hunt in both arctic and tropical waters.
