paraphrased from my artfight bio for him:
Grian was struck by lightning one night because he was dumb enough to chase after one as morbid curiosity always gets the best of him. He gets kissed by the strike and was granted with godlike speed from the speedforce (yes, DC's speedforce. I don't feel like making my own thing so, using the same one)
He's an orphan. Grew up in many foster families who was just polite and nice enough but it wasn't enough positive attention for him, hence he struggles to find his identity and footing in the world. Constantly wondering where he belongs, and who he is.
One fateful but intoxicated day where he decided it was a good idea to parkour around the city with his newfound powers, he accidentally tripped and fell into a dumpster. This is how he meets a forlorn man (Scar) that would irreversibly change his life forever.
if you noticed from my art, he has the trans flag and transmasc colours painted on his cheeks. in the story, grian does realise his identity and transitions, but staves from physically transitioning (hrt/surgery) due to his neurotic train of thought that it would negatively effect his powers. he reasons that he can't risk it when he's basically hotguy's bodyguard, as he only agreed to be his sidekick to look after him, since scar is only human.
it's a very codependent partnership as a lot of comet's identity is inspired from trickshot's compassion (grian had no interest in parading in a costume until he realises he cares for scar and wants to keep an eye out). the character progression for grian is that he does have to figure out his identity of who he is as comet + as a man, since his orphan upbringing was really hollow and lacking in a lot of experiences, thus his journey of transitioning and being a vigilante/hero crosses roads and intertwines more than he expects.

i have a really cool idea for a desertduo snail mail (like snail mail clubs but its just a One Time Thing instead of a subscription) but i have no idea where i should host it...
thinking if i should just run back to my bigcartel again or do it via google forms (so people can actually read my terms if so) because i do want to keep it lowkey and not be a huge merch drop
