SILAS:
silas slightly raised a brow at angie re-approaching him, though he wasn’t completely surprised. it was a beautiful memory- the kind of beautiful that no matter how hard you tried to resist it, you couldn’t help but succumb to it clouding your mind with nostalgia.
“christmas in new york. i planned for a whole day at central park but we got snowed in,” he continued, letting out a foggy breath in amusement. “three hours in, you had already found the winter cake i made and the shoes in my closet. one second you were angry because you thought they were another girl’s, and then the other, you were crying because you kept telling me how beautiful they were.” a ghost of a grin settled on silas’s lips as he turned his head to look at angie. “you were so excited to try them on but they ended up snapping because it was a defect. i trekked through that damn snow for a good hour and a half each way to find a replacement because i wanted to see your excitement one more time.”
silas’s eyes lingered on the other’s for a second before he resumed speaking, his tone soft in respect to their reminiscence. “during that walk, i thought it was the worst day ever. now that i’m thinking about it again, i think that was the best memory we could’ve made that christmas night.”
angie didn’t even bother trying to hide the surprise on her face when he looked back, taking a deep breath at the face that was before her and did her best to hold his gaze as she evened out her breath too. her hands shook as the memories came flashing back. of course, how can she ever forget that day? it could’ve been the worst day for someone else but to angie, it meant the world and is probably one of the happiest day of her life. not the typical kind of christmas someone would want but there was just something special about that day that made her fall for the him even more. and for that, angie took a deep breath and looked back at the café. maybe it was time to actually talk. her mind kept lashing out, screaming and pleading for her not to go but the heart wants what it wants. “stay here for a bit.” and off she went.
unsure of how long she had gone but the moment angie returned, she was off of her uniform and even brought her things with her. “lets...” she paused, looking at him. she just hoped that she was not making the wrong decision again. “...talk somewhere else. i don’t think that this is the right place for us to be talking.” it was pathetic—no, she was pathetic for actually ditching a job and thinking of his reputation after what he did. “my place or... yours? my place is not far from here but wherever you think you’re comfortable with, i guess. if you prefer to stay with yours... then just lead the way.” she said while hiding her cold fingers on to her coat’s pockets. and as always, they both would go with what he wanted. angie thought that she’d let things go his way for now but once they were both in a more secluded place, things would be different.
