In the script it was literally described as the most epic, insane, outrageous, fascinating, dangerous, over the top gymnastics sex scene there ever was in the world," says Stan. "That was the tag line."
“There are some cinematic moments that have stayed in my memory years after seeing them. Like when Bueller breaks the fourth wall for the first time in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Or when Inigo Montoya gets stabbed but still defeats the six-fingered man in The Princess Bride. And of course when Rose let's go of Jack at the end of Titanic (after he repeatedly tells her to "never let go"). And after seeing 2016's The Bronze , I can guarantee that the gratuitous gymnast sex scene, featuring Melissa Rauch and Sebastian Stan, will stay in my conscious for many moons to come.”
How this brilliant, hilarious & actually very relatable movie written by Melissa Rauch & her husband was overlooked when it came out in 2015, I don’t know. I can name 10 “hit” comedies that suck d**k when it comes to the “The Bronze”, and if dick jokes are your thing, Melissa has bags full of them for you.
She also has a multi layered portrait of a gymnast who won an Olympic Bronze medal 14 years ago, tore her Achilles heel and tore herself up inside, despite her Dad’s best efforts to help her heal. It’s a very funny comedy.Sebastian Stan proves again that just because he looks like the puppy dog of perfect sexuality doesnt mean he also can’t play the dirtiest meanest dog in town. The exchanges between the two are to die for. And the creative combinations of the worst kinds of expletives coming from Rauch, whose face can change from 5 years old to 20 to 50 in 5 seconds, are like Christmas in July, with Hanukkah in April. The supporting cast of Gary Cole, Cecile Strong, Thomas Middleditch (yes, you read that right) and Hayley Lu Richardson are all wonderful. Did this movie get passed over because like another wonderful movie “I, Tonya”, it was mostly pushed by a woman? ( Although “I, Tonya”, a truly great movie, was a Margot Robbie production all the way.)
Please watch “The Bronze” on Prime Video for $3.99. Its more that worth it. And ladies, please don’t leave any **** stains in the back seat of the car.
