Thai School With a Lot of Heart Calling all Teachers!
Whenever I travel, people tell me they wish they could have my job.
Hey! Guess whatβI have some good news for you. You can!
My wonderful school is hiring for the new academic year starting in May and we're on the hunt for fun, passionate, dynamic people to join the team. (And! Unlike most ESL positions, non-native speakers are welcome to apply! As long as your English is fluent and clear, weβre excited to welcome people from non-native countries. For example, we currently have a teacher from The Netherlands.)
If you've ever thought of immersing yourself in a new culture, moving to the beautiful Thai countryside, teaching some of the absolute best kids out there, working with people who will feel like family, or spending three months vacation in the cool mountains or on the toasty beach (or traveling around SE Asia!), this job might be perfect for you!
You can check out the following links below and watch the video to meet the current teachers (including myself!).

I am not a recruiter. We are not involved with recruiters in any way. Anyone you speak to in an interview process with this school, including myself (the current grade 6 teacher), are teachers at the school. Youβre welcome to message me with any questions you might have before applying.
This school is wonderful and loads of fun. Iβve included pictures below the cut that hopefully can give folks an idea of what we do here at Anuban Nakhon Sawan.
A self-study project for late-elementary to middle school intermediate ESL/EFL students.
Hello to anyone still following this blog! Iβm still working in Thailand, just forgetting to update. Β Β m(_ _;m)
The above link is a website I made for my grade 6 class who are studying about ancient civilizations. I thought I would share it because I had such a difficult time trying to find a website that covered all of the information I wanted with language appropriately graded to my EFL students. (They were also all very ugly with terrible navigation.) So I just made my own! The site covers Egypt, China, The Indus Valley Civilization, The Inca, Mesopotamia, and Ancient Greece. Thereβs a video for further learning on each page and highlighted vocabulary for self-teaching.
Itβs suited for intermediate/upper-intermediate students, and while designed with my 12-year-old students in mind, would be fine for junior high/high school students.
For anyone interested in lesson planning for this, mine is as follows (one hour lessons):
These past three days have gone like a (very exhausting) whirlwind! We spent three days in Khao Yai on our schoolβs annual English camp. The children were sorted into teams and given basic information about a planet. Their job for the next three days was to flesh out their planet with flags, national sports, anthems, and a fashion show. All entirely in English! And they absolutely rose to the occasion. Our youngest participants, the grade 3s, even sought us out during designated Thai time to come talk to us in English. They sat with us at meal times and told jokes and riddles and just made such a wonderful effort to use their English skills.
I donβt think Iβll ever be over how compassionate, kind, and clever these kids are. Theyβre incredible little people and they amaze me every day. I love them all tons, but Iβm so ready for our two months of vacation starting today!
I'm sorry for how inactive this blog has been this year. It's been a crazy, hectic, busy, joyful year. I spent most of the year just trying to keep afloat between curriculum building, school visits, and performances. Now that the first year is over and I'm staying on a second year, I'll be trying to post more about my school, activities, and general life in a small Thai city.

Here are a couple photos of my cute elementary school in Thailand! From left to right: 1. The Mini English Program building. At our school, thirty students from each grade study around 10 hours a week in English. They have extra classes in science, math, PE, and reading and writing in addition to daily English classes. 2. The main road through the school. This goes past the Kindergarten building and the main field, where we meet for assembly and the flag raising every morning at 8:00.
Today in grade 3 science class, we made terrariums to learn more about the water cycle. The kids all worked so hard on making their jars look beautiful (though some of them didn't quite understand they had to bring a very small plant) and they were so excited when we started to see the condensation!
Belated photos from Valentine's Day at school. Here in Thailand, kids give their friends heart stickers. β€
I spent today world building an alien planet for our school's annual English camp. Next month, we'll take approximately 100 students on a three day English-only trip where they'll be sorted in to one of six houses. This year's theme is space! They'll then spend the three days creating aliens, a national anthem, traditional dances, and a history for their planet. On the final day there will be a fashion show where they show off what people would wear on their planet!
One of my grade 3 students told me today The Magic School Bus was made for people who are younger than her and my heart broke a little. They've grown up so fast! I can't believe they'll be in grade four so soon!

Children's Day here in Thailand, featuring tanks, the biggest bouncy castle ever, and some really phenomenal kids!
Adventures in Teaching Grade 6
Student: (clearly drawing a dick on his desk)
Me: What's that?
Student: (still drawing, now adding flames) it's a rocket.
Me: hmm... I don't think that's true.
Student: It's a rocket. What do YOU think it is?
Me: Don't. Even. Try that.
Today in class, explaining a game to grade 6
Me: So you take a card, and whatever number is on that card, you need to add that many words to the story. So if it's 6, you can say "once upon a time, there was..."
Student: What about "kitty"?
Me: What?
Student: Kitty. Is that one word?
Me: ah, yes... but I don't know why that's important right now.
Student: I like kitties. I want to be ready.
In Grade 3 science, we've been learning about force, motion, and gravity. Today was project day where we applied everything we've learned to a creative activity. We made catapults! Next week we'll compete to see which group made the best one.
Rocking that mannequin challenge with my amazing grade sixes. What a bunch of cool kids. π

I've only just returned home from a two week trip to Chiang Mai and Koh Samet (above). Koh Samet, and I feel this on any island in Thailand, really just reminds me what a great decision I made in moving here.
Hot tip! If you're ever in Chiang Mai, go check out Rustic and Blue for some really amazing meals. This is the tomato and chorizo salad (kai daow, naturally) and the black salted caramel mocha. ππ
