Who even are you?
Great question! I'm Finley. I'm an indie author, and I've been writing (unprofessionally) since I was roughly 5 years old. (I did say 'unprofessionally'.) I published my first book in February of 2021, and it's just... gone from there. I'm also a mother of 3 (two teens and a toddler), caregiver for 2 (indoor) and 3 (stray) cats, with 1 husband.
What do you write?
I write contemporary romance with heart, heat, and healing. Some stories have plenty of spice, some have a medium amount, and some have none. But they all have characters you can root for and a love that prevails... eventually.
What books have you written?
I've written and published five over the last five years.Â
Scars & Souvenirs is my debut, following Max as she navigates a life of freedom after abuse - and learning to love again.Â
Dreams Reborn is its sequel, and it follows Clay (from the first book) as he faces his past.
Long Time Gone is a second chance small town romance that has Rett coming back home and realizing maybe she never truly left.
Love Notes is 150 pages of "slice of life" that has Harley falling in love with the person she shouldn't but maybe it's not so bad?
The Road Back Home is my latest release, which follows Dealla as she juggles college, "parenthood", a strained relationship with her stepsister, and falling in love when her heart was never meant to get involved.
What else do you do?
I read. A lot. I also play video games (DDV, Kingdom Hearts 3, Final Fantasy XV and XVI, Infinity Nikki), sing (badly), bake, and crochet.
What authors do you look up to?
Oof. There's quite a few, and honestly, it kinda worries me to put them on a list, because what if they turn out to be crap people? Anyway. The ones I know are amazing and will forever be so:
Reno Phoenix - my best friend. An amazing author (basing this off what little I've read of their works). And I can't wait for their debut so I can scream "MY BEST FRIEND WROTE THIS YESSS!!!!!"
TJ Klapprodt - Author of the Ilbeor Saga, T.J. Klapprodt has an immense talent that draws readers into the world she so lovingly creates. (She’s also really cool.)
Xiran Jay Zhao - I was absolutely blown away by Xiran Jay Zhao’s talent when I first read Iron Widow. I cannot wait to see what else they write.
What tools do you use?
For writing itself: Scrivener, Elliipsus, EmberWrite, and a program my friend wrote called Sheherazade. For formatting the book for final publication: Atticus, Affinity. For keeping my sanity: HA!
