Find Your Inner Athlete

So, this quarantine has really made me rethink my relationship to my body and health. As an asthmatic in a family with a history of diabetes, I’m pretty scared of covid. I have also gained a lot of weight in the past few years, which has not helped with the asthma. I’m trying my best to now workout and get healthier to limit my anxiety, but I can’t help but get distracted by the possible aesthetic gains of being skinnier, instead of focusing on the health pros of being fitter. Because of that, I find myself just looking at myself in the mirror constantly and just poking my belly disappointed hoping that if I poke it enough it’ll fall off lol. I definitely feel healthier, but I wish I just didn’t care as much of looking fitter. It just leads to frustration, but I can’t help it! Damn you, body expectations in the gay community!!
