A Down Year for Notre Dame

Notre Dame is normally expected to win 8 or 9 games in a 12 game season.  They have more Heisman trophy winners than any other school. But this year was way down as they finished the year at 4-8.

It is Saturday and historic events happened yesterday

Fidel Castro, the legendary communist leader died on Friday.  That is an event of epic proportions in world history.  It is being recognized by all world leaders.

On a happier note, my alma mater of Notre Dame plays #12 USC at 3:30PM on ABC.

Today is Sunday, November 20th and today is my birthday.  I’m 57 by the way.

If you do something, become the best

One goal I have to become the best at what I do.  That is my clear goal.

I’ve played a 12 string guitar for years and taking lessons on playing rock anthems is a clear goal of mine.  I follow Fender on Twitter now.

I also hope to get back into scuba diving, now that I am in Florida.  When I lived on Long Island, New York, I became a NAUI certified diver.

My blog keeps people interested and a great movie

I write a blog to keep people’s interest in my stuff.  I hope to get people interested in what I am doing.  I like movies and stuff a lot too.

We saw a movie with my Notre Dame roommates called London Falling.  It was  about a major attack on London by a Midwest organization.  The hero of the movie was a Secret Service agent with a new wife and baby.

Hopefully the wins will keep coming but I don’t know.  I am a Notre Dame grad.  Ironically, my mom asked me not to go there due to the cost and I said “I appreciate that but I will do my best to get a degree.” and I did do it.  Worked so much there during summers and school.  I got it done.

I also have a new iPhone 7 and I think Apple has revolutionized phone use using that phone.  The camera is world class and it has news, stocks, and more. It is a touch screen.  It conveys the marketing concept of being different.

Retek also is a good example, when they closed on Black Friday and paid all employees on the biggest shopping day of the year.  They got great press.

I have many years of sales success and marketing chops but after my nasty fall over two years ago, I’m not looking for a job now.  You would have to make a big offer to get me now.

Saturday is a day for college football

I attended Notre Dame but they are struggling this year.  The football team is down, but next year may be better.  They play Army at 3:30pm on Saturday.  All home games are on NBC.

Notre Dame is ranked number one in college basketball I learned recently. I sure hope so.  My ND roommates are getting together on January to watch hoops and have a fun weekend.  That will be fun.

A Day of college football

Saturday is a day mainly to celebrate college football.  My Fighting Irish play today too as well as many top schools.

NBC called Notre Dame one of the top 15 schools in the country along with Stanford, but the football is not very good this year.  Their record is 3-6, I believe.  There’s a lot of pressure on the coaches there.

A Day to remember our heroes

Friday is Veterans Day, a time to remember the brave men and women who defended our country.

We watched a movie called Hacksaw Ridge(video included) directed by Mel Gibson that featured a highly underestimated private that saved a great many men at Io Jima after a major battle there.   Badly understated he would not carry a gun for personal reasons.  But he personally stayed in the battle area…

Donald Trump is a self driven ego maniac and Hillary Clinton is nice and friendly, but it is a less than ideal choice I believe.

A guy who sells his name is not presidential behavior.

A Down Year for my Alma Mater

Notre Dame may have invented the game of football, but they have not won a championship since 1988.

This year is no different.  They lost to Texas and Duke and one more.  They are 1-3 and fired their defensive coordinator.

One time long ago, I was working for a warehouse management company called Optum Software.  It was a startup with about 35 employees.  I was a salesperson.

The Colleges with Great Academics this Saturday

Duke, one of the finest schools in the USA, play Notre Dame in football on Saturday afternoon.

They are two of the best in the land and it is an honor to play each other.  Both are great academic institutions.  Yes, I do have a BBA in Marketing from Notre Dame.  I respect the many business leaders who graduated from Duke.
