Making leisure reading a priority again 🥀✨
Currently Reading: Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin Also just did my nails with these gold flakies and I’m obsessed. https://www.instagram.com/p/B5N6fxKpEQy/?igshid=19kg0ym3pv7ws
I know it’s not healthy but... now that Cardan and Jude are all hearteyes (😍) I find myself missing the constant power struggling and battle of wits that came out of them fearing the other may be their demise.

Hey! I feel like I could just scroll down your blog for hours haha. Anyway, so do you think books are way more important than movies etc? I always think a book can just completely take you there and I love imagining everything in my mind!
Aw, thanks so much! I wouldn’t say I think one is more important than the other, they’re both valid forms of art and expression of a story. But I agree with you that I tend to get more absorbed into books and enjoy the mental exercise of having to picture everything myself. I also feel like they can accomplish more at times but I think that comes down to the amount of time it takes to read a book versus watching the movie.
Currently Reading: The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black As expected I’m thoroughly enjoying it. https://www.instagram.com/p/B5I9j4MBzv_/?igshid=1v3o0wezrxzd2

Call Down the Hawk by Maggie Stiefvater | Review
3.75? 🌟
This is a hard one to rate for me. Probably somewhere between a 3 and 4 star. On one hand I love being back in the raven boys world but it feels different. It took me a while to get invested in the raven boys series (until BLLB) and I expected to have a more instant connection with the dreamer trilogy because it was a world and characters I was already familiar with. This wasn’t quite the case. While I could read Maggie’s grocery list I love her writing so much I wasn’t super invested in the plot. The book mostly took place in the greater DC area so we lost the whimsy that henrietta/cabeswater or even the Barnes brought to the atmosphere. The kind of nonsense magic that was the dream magic was now more technical which can be a plus and minus. Most of all I missed the friendships and the ladies of fox way. We did get some Adam but mostly it was Ronan’s idea of Adam, and only got blue and gansey in a handful of texts and phones calls. For things I really did enjoy: Declan. We got to know him as more than the annoying older brother as he was a main character in this book. He’s a lot more complex and interesting than previously described and I enjoyed his sections. And honestly the last 50 pages or so really did it for me. I was invested, I was on the edge of my seat, I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book, but I wish the entire book had a bit more of this feeling. After all that rambling, it was a good book, nothing technically wrong, it just didn’t live up to my maybe unrealistic expectations and I found it a bit slow at times.
What did y’all think? I wanna talk about it!

Vincent Van Gogh, Chestnut Tree in Bloom, 1887 and Path in the Woods, 1887
sir, that’s my emotional support period piece
When I don’t feel my best, I go to the lake (and I obviously bring my book with me).
I am still here, Vasya told herself, over and over. I am still myself. I am still alive.
I might need to go on a book buying ban
