I’ve improved my writing a lot over the years and here’s how:

Write for yourself, not an audience. Yes, when you’re in English class and you gotta write that goddamn essay, you’re thinking of an audience. Fine. Just don’t do that with your personal writing. When you’re creating just to create, go wild, fam. Doesn’t matter who enjoys it. Fact is, if you decide to show it to the world, there will be people out there who appreciate it.

Write poorly. Write bad things. Things that sound sucky or don’t make sense. Just write and write and write. The more you practice, the more the thoughts will form smoothly on paper. It’s the same concept as drawing or painting. You gotta make bad art to eventually make good art.

Let them thoughts flow, babe! Streams of consciousness are everything. In the form of poetry, a story, or random shit that pops in your head! Just start writing, I guarantee it will spark some ideas.

Keep a journal and write as often as possible. ‘nuff said.
