PLOT

In 2019, a certain laboratory on an undisclosed location developed a serum that could genetically modify humans, giving them enhanced speed, agility, strength, and brainpower. Scientists found a way to modify the serum such that it could only activate itself in the presence of a Y chromosome, thus isolating the effects to men.

The serum was a success, sales skyrocketed just a few weeks after the release. What the developer’s did not anticipate, though, was the human body’s incapacity to handle the serum. The mental and physical over-exhaustion triggered a mental decay which starts out slow, but speeds up exponentially within a few months after usage of the serum.

The brains of the users are left with only the most basic survival reflexes, transforming the users into strong, fast, agile, emotionless human shells, devouring any mobile life form in their path. Bites from the infected individuals could place copies of the rogue serum into the bodies of the bitten, given them the symptoms. Shortly after, the serum evolved into a sort of genetic virus, causing mental decay in just days. No one was safe. Except a select few who seemed to be immune. 

Those that are immune can either try to keep others from getting infected as well or work on a cure to bring those infected back.

“Yeah, Izzy’s a sweetheart. She’s always finding me some jobs.” Jace mused. “Calm down, it’s okay, Clary. Is Chloe allergic to any foods? I don’t want to give her anything that could cause a break out.” he  moved to ride his bike, pulling in at the apartment and going to the door. He knocked quietly but hard enough to be heard, sliding his hands into his leather jacket as he looked around. The neighborhood was part of what his sister called ‘Collegeville’ - mostly students and their significant others lived in the area. He looked at his watch and carefully knocked on the door again. “Clary? It’s Jace.”
