“Yeah, we came here to get at least tipsy didn’t we?” His retort was dry but still a little bit amused. Even more after he saw one of Hawks feathered grab a menu.
But he knew as the clearly far less excited one of the two of them, and probably the slightly more sober one, he should be the voice of reason. He should be suggesting to slow it down. Instead he decide to nudge his elbow into Hawks rib, just hard enough to ensure his friend barely felt it. “Just out of curiosity, do you ever just get up and walk to go get something? But fine by me, may as well do both.”
Since the way things were going they’ll probably down both by the end of the night anyway. “Just don’t pass out the second the waiter lea-”
He didn’t know exactly what struck him as odd at that exact moment, but he turned his gaze away from Hawks to see the waiter actually standing right in front of them looking as if he had been there awhile.
Touya didn’t think he was usually one to startle easily but whatever this waiter had going for him, he was as fast as he was quiet. Quickly enough Touya decided he hated it. Yet that didn’t stop him from asking, “are you always this fast?”
When he nodded back, Touya just returned his gaze to Hawks. “I guess you’re ready for drinks then?”
With the chicken bowl pretty much almost gone, Hawks was more than content to fill the rest of his stomach with alcohol, he’d not had a chance to get properly drunk with Touya in what felt like forever, their conflicting schedules, their crazy work hours, villains putting one or the other in hospital for days on end over the few free days they may or may not have had, it was just… so hard to keep a friendship going as a pro-hero.
But Hawks had every intention of keeping this particular friendship alive and maybe, someday, have Touya actually realise they were like, soulmates or some shit, yeah, if he just kept at it maybe Touya would realise his best friend had had a crush on him since like, halfway through their first year of knowing each other. “Hell fuckin YEAH I’m ready for drinks!” Let it be known, Hawks didn’t usually swear in public, unlike Touya whom could easily hide behind his mask, Hawks couldn’t hide in public, he was too obvious, his wings stood out too much his face was plastered on billboards all over the city for various modelling ads, Hawks didn’t swear in public, he acted like a goddamn saint in public.
Tonight? Tonight, he was going to get drunk and have fun because he didn’t do it nearly enough. He did snort a cheerful giggle as the waiter seemed to materialize out of nowhere again, Hawks swore it was some kind of speed quirk, he had no idea, but nobody had ever actually seen him use it, sure he zipped around, appeared out of nowhere to get your orders to you in record time but with no actual proof of him using it, there was nothing anyone could do, and Hawks wasn’t about to report him for using it in public anyway.
He knew there was no quirk usage license in the building, he’d checked, but that didn’t mean he was gonna snitch, the dude was providing a public service with fuckin fantastic food. “M’not gonna pass out! Ey Keiji-san! Another round, but this time make em fancy cocktails, these ones right here” actually lifting the menu to point at the drinks they’d selected rather than listing the names, the man nodded his head, and quick as a flash he was off again. “I swear Touya, I swear it’s a speed quirk, he’s like… Tensei but faster, maaan if he’d have gone for the hero career, he would have made a killin with it” lots of people out there with quirks that’d do great things.
Not everyone got that chance though.
