open to: anyone! plot: serena is a assasin who ends up falling in love with your muse until she finds out that they were hired to kill her or something more.

She knew she shouldn’t be snooping around but what is there to do when your partner is fast asleep in the bedroom right after a steamy little session. Serena walked around their house until she ended up in their study. She found a folder all out for display and for some reason she was drawn to it. The blonde found herself flipping it open only to reveal a background check on the woman which of course didn’t have much on her. She went off the grid for the longest time but what struck her was the red marker in bold letters. TARGET. “Fuck!” She yelped out when she heard the other ask what she was doing. “I was going to ask you the same thing?” In an oddly calm manner, she figured the other either didn’t know she was an assassin or she ended up in a very fucked up situation.

it was a blessing and a curse, to be as astute as jacques tended to be. he’s aware this facade of a relationship — though it was bordering on real most and more with each passing day — wouldn’t last forever. this is the longest he’s ever taken to finish a job, safe to say he’s run into a hiccup. the hiccup being that upon getting to know serena, beyond what he needed to know to get the job done, he began to care for her. it’s a foreign feeling that nearly made him sick with nerves, but the further he pushed his true intentions aside, the easier it all became to bear. he was used to fabricating a web of lies for him to perch on before he pounced, but the idea of getting serena involved in all of it had him wondering if he was going soft. the absence of her presence beside him in bed is enough to rouse him awake, glancing down toward the watch that adorned his wrist before searching the room for the other. 

they were so different from the people they once were and yet the echoes of them remained. for estrella it was the way her love for all things fashion and pop culture had some how translated into a job, the hustle of trying to achieve it not strong enough to beat her stubborn, fiery attitude. rafael would remember how much she liked to fight for what she believed, arguing with him till she was blue in the face. sometimes she argued just to argue. these days, those urges don’t bubble up when she sees him. instead it’s a saccharine nostalgia, memories tinged in a hazy pink as she watches him approach, taking over the ghost of his teenage self that sometimes wanders around estrella’s mind. “damn, did i get ya all riled up? i swear you used to get excited just at the prospect of my house being empty.” she teased, her eyes widening before her grip tightened on her glass, her head tilting back to drink the rest of her vodka soda in one swoop. she wipes the corner of her mouth with her fingers as he comes close and her skin seems to buzz at the closeness, sizzling when he’s touching her so gently. “what’s it actually been? i feel like i kept time in high school like it was my job. these days i forget how long it’s been since anything.” she laughs softly, eyes tracing over him. “i wasn’t kidding about the liquor. let me make you something?” she offers, a sly smile on her lips. "i was a bartender for three weeks when i moved to los angeles, i’m real good.”

raf wasn’t entirely surprised to hear from estrella upon being back home in time for the holidays, but that didn’t stop the familiar cocktail of nerves and excitement from occupying the pit of his stomach as he lessened the gap between them. he looks at her and not only sees the girl he fell in love with in high school, but the amazing woman she turned out to be. he got out of their hometown as soon as he could, aware that the place only meant trouble for him. it took a better half of a decade to get him to where he was now, but raf wouldn’t ever look back. there’s even a part of him that thinks, maybe, if he came back home as the better version of himself, maybe he and estrella could make this work. but he doesn’t dare voice this, knowing she has an entire life and career without him coming in to make things complicated, as he’s always had a tendency of doing.
