in order to help you all cheer up a little during all this craziness going on, i brought you one more soft irondad sketch, just as many of you asked

(and because i needed to cheer myself up as well, and the found family themes and father/son relationships always bring me joy) ((also i never get tired of drawing hugs, sorry))

this one was actually inspired by the awesome fic by @ghostinthebau, so go check it out, it’s really cute

“So, have you given the camping trip any more thought?” Ned asks, and he groans internally at the change in subject. He’d much rather go back to talking about his non-existent love life, thanks. The trip is during spring break— a four day long trek out into the wilderness, camping and hiking and gathering who even knows what, learning all about nature and the great outdoors.But the real kicker? It’s an event specifically designed for fathers and their sons, which is something Peter doesn’t have, and something he will never be.Not again. Or: Peter longs to have a deeper relationship with his mentor, a more meaningful connection; but he’s managed to convince himself that the only reason Tony Stark spends any time with him at all is purely because of his enhancement.Because of Spider-Man.

this one was actually inspired by the second part of “5 times Tony calls Peter baby” by the amazing @madasthesea!! the fic is really touching and it totally made me feel feelings, so you should definitely give it a read ❤️

every character’s first line should be an introduction to who they are as a person

even if you only wrote one sentence on a really bad day, that’s still one sentence more than you had yesterday

exercise restraint when using swear words and extra punctuation in order for them to pack a punch when you do use them

if your characters have to kiss to show they’re in love, then they’re not in love

make every scene interesting (or make every scene your favorite scene), otherwise your readers will be just as bored as you

if you’re stuck on a scene, delete the last line you wrote and go in a different direction, or leave in brackets as placeholders

don’t compare your first draft to published books that could be anywhere from 3rd to 103rd drafts

i promise you the story you want to tell can fit into 100k words or less

sometimes the book isn’t working because it’s not ready to be written or you’re not ready to write it yet; let it marinate for a bit so the idea can develop as you become a better writer
