Utahraptor (Utahraptor ostrommaysi) "Utah's Predator/Thief"
Utahraptor is a genus of Dromaeosaurids, a group of feathered carnivorous theropods (more commonly known as raptors)
Utahraptor was discovered in the Cedar Mountain Formation in Utah (duh)
Utahraptor is the largest known dromaeosaur, measuring up to 23 feet long!!
Utahraptor's iconic sickle claw (a defining trait of dromaeosaurids alike) is around 9-10 inches
Utahraptor lived in the Early Cretaceous, 139-134.6 Million Years Ago and was likely an ambush predator, hunting ankylosaurs and iguanodonts
Fun Fact: The Jurassic Park Velociraptors were made that large because of the lack of a large dromaeosaur, but Utahraptor was found shortly afterwards :P JP Velociraptors were actually modeled after Deinonychus!
