Halo Legends: Cal-141 Recovery (Headcanon)
The lack of any definite explanation or lore after “The Babysitter” left a bad taste in my mouth and I wanted to make an ending to it that is possible. 343 never gave a definite answer as to if she was or wasn’t recovered.
So here goes my head canon.

After-Action Report I
Operation: GREY VEIL achieved primary objectives with the elimination of the Covenant Minor Prophet present on Heian. Intelligence gathered via Spartan-II Cal-141’s data chip, indicates the planet shows signs of habitation by ancient human civilizations. Preliminary ONI review confirms architectural and cultural remnants consistent with Greco-Roman, East Asian, and Middle Eastern influences.
The ODST detachment successfully completed the mission and returned with Cal-141’s recorded coordinates, Data of the terrain and confirmation of the minor prophets death. Her helmet was replaced on her armor and Biofoam was administered through external injection ports prior to departure. Following debrief, Section III authorized a recovery effort consisting of an Eclipse-class prowler, cryogenic storage, and heavy-lift capability.
Although initial ONI assessments advised against retrieval, Dr. Halsey formally recommended recovery and cryogenic preservation. She has argued that despite the absence of energy shielding, the Mjolnir Mk. IV platform may have mitigated otherwise lethal trauma. Basic medical scans support this assessment, suggesting the possibility of future revival pending technological advancement.

After-Action Report II
ONI recovery elements successfully extracted Spartan Cal-141’s remains from Heian without detection on 2544.09.21 around midnight. She was stabilized, scanned, and placed into cryogenic stasis.
Medical analysis indicates she was comatose at the time of recovery. Review of onboard Mjolnir telemetry confirms her armor administered an emergency biochemical protocol, artificially inducing a coma after detecting critical vital sign degradation.
Dr. Halsey has assumed responsibility for Cal-141 and initiated transfer to Reach for indefinite cryogenic containment on 2544.09.22. The Mk. IV armor has been taken for analysis to inform future Mjolnir development, with particular focus on resistance to blunt force and gravity hammer impacts observed during Covenant engagements.
Operational designation for Cal-141 will remain “MIA”, possibly pending “KIA” due to being unable to make a full revival or recovery at this time and in order to maintain status continuity during cryogenic suspension. The assigned status will remain until revival is confirmed. Full revival is assessed as improbable with current medical capacity, though periodic evaluations will continue. It is believed that future technologies in development may be able to reverse most or all of the bodily damage incurred. As of this filing, cardiovascular readings remain weak and showing premature atrial contractions, but viable; brain scans have revealed mild to moderate neurological damage from the blunt force trauma. A body scan has revealed her left shoulder and upper left arm to be fractured and broken in multiple places. Cal-141’s scan also revealed a portion of her skull to be fractured.
This process will be recorded and used as research for future revival and severe trauma treatment and recovery protocols.
