There are many factors that made Russia the birthplace of the first successful communist revolution. Most of those factors that led the Russian revolution were long term caused, and they have been built up for centuries. Historically, Russia was different from it is European counterparts because they always had a cultural and ideologist which varies from western countries. Having those differences made her the right place the communist to emerge. For instance, during the nineteen century, most of European powerful states were more modernized than Russia; therefore, the Communist revolution took place in Russia because it needed revising politically, socially and economically to fit the modern world.
According to ( Farhan, American historians) the emergence of novel ideas during the renaissance led most of the European great powers, besides Russia, and changed the old forms of government, the constitutional. The newly constitutional government had effective parliament which can be played significant role in politics of the countries. In most cases, the parliament shared and limited the power of their rulers. For example, in 1850, Britain was parliamentary government; representatives used to greatly influenced making crucial decisions. At the end of the nineteen century, France and Germany had a constitutional government, where representatives possessed enough power to resist and stop the king or the prime minister from making decision based on personal interest.
The emergence of constitutional governments and effectively functioning parliament was the beginning of the democracy. Most of the government wanted to develop their countries economically and socially. Western countries eagerly supported the transformation of the traditional ways of agriculture and craft production to manufacturing and using machines. Therefore, they were first industrialized countries. Industrialization triggered huge urbanization in the western countries because people started working in industries. For instance, half way through the nineteen century 58% of the English people lived in the cities, and French’s urban population doubled. One to the industrialization and manufacturing civilians in those countries found jobs and cheap goods; and as a result, many people who did not have high social stuatus previously managed to became wealthy merchants. During this transformation era, nobles and landowners lost their privileges.
Moreover, the emergence of the nationalism made countries, like Britain, France and Germany more coherent because they each of them contained only one ethnic group. Sine each of these countries became a nation, the member of each supported each other and tried to make their nation state the dominant power of Europe. Due to the existence of these patriotic citizens within those countries, they became modernized and industrialized swiftly.
In contrast to western countries, Russia remained to use the old ways of governing. At the end of nineteenth century, Russia was the only European powerful state which had an autocratic government. Nicholas the second, the king of Russia, when the revolution occurred, possessed absolute power, and he created very weak parliament who could not challenge his power. Since he had unlimited people, he mistreated his own people. He oppressed his citizens and later on when they protested and demanded political transformation, he persecuted a tremendous amount of people. For example, in the Bloody Sunday his troops killed 200 innocent people who were making a peaceful demonstration.
According to (), the Tsarist government did a little effort to social development to occur in its country. Law social class people experienced many hardships. They had no political power to make change, and the government was no helping them to get better life. Russia was not industrialized until the mid-nineteenth century; therefore, majority of the law social class, who made up sixty percentage of its people, lived in the rural areas. For instance, half way nineteen century only 20% of Russian population was urbanized.
Furthermore, the emergence of the nationalists added up the tensions in Russia.
