I hope that everyone has been safe and healthy over this last year! Times sure have been chaotic recently, havenât they?
As many of you know, I partnered with another creator to bring to life a shared passion projectâthe webcomic Traversionâat the end of 2020. I wanted to address my relationship with the series as it stands now.
Effective immediately, I am no longer involved with Traversion. I wish more than anything that I could remain a part of this project, but the decision was outside of my control.
The word Traversion itself is my title. It has been for years. The name is unique and extremely personal to me, and it is hard to see it still being used for a series I am no longer associated with.
The Traversion universe itself was created as a collaboration between myself and another creator. It was a deeply personal story that we developed together daily over the better course of a year, one I was excited to share with the world. The majority of the writing, story/plot, and narrative progression was an entirely joint effort; still, I had the opportunity to contribute several elements that make the series unique.
I wrote the webcomicâs prologue and obtained the translation services to enable the âmultilingual speech effect,â a story-relevant concept which is uniquely my own.
I researched and built key worldbuilding elements, including world geography, population distribution, economic/fiscal systems, supernatural creature taxonomy, and levels of government / government organization.
I created Traversionâs entire magic system from the ground up, including the differences between Eidolon vs. non-Eidolon, branches of magic, spellcasting disciplines, the use of aethercircles, and the concept of morphemes of magic.
Should they still make appearances, the characters of Noah, Chris, Alistair, and Cora are my own. Noahâs backstory (unexplained due to spoilers) is a core concept integral to her character that I reworked specifically for use in Traversion.
I created the âtranscriptionâ system, where the narrative segments I wrote accompanied the webcomic pages in a drop-drown beneath new pages.
The reasons for this point-by-point breakdown are twofold. Firstly, due to the amount of love, research, and effort I contributed to these elements, I intend to utilize several of them for other projects of my own, so I hope to address in advance any potential overlap with my projects and with Traversion going forward. Secondly, as of the time of this writing, my contributions to the series are currently minimized to a âprologue + additional writingâ tagline with no mention or link back to me as an original creator. I wanted to make my contributions to the series very clear.
Needless to say, Traversion was more than just a collaboration for meâanyone who has worked with me creatively can attest to how much of myself I pour into every project Iâm associated with.
I have many more stories to tell.
Thank you all for reading this far and for sticking with me! You are the reason why I continue to write at all, and I will continue striving to prove that your faith in me is not misplaced.
